A few months ago I attempted my first Goetic evocation. I essentially had all the of the equipment deemed mandatory (circle, triangle, sigils, etc.) and performed the evocation in a loft above my garage. However in retrospect I made some foolish choices (like attempting to summon Paimon on my first attempt and using DXM to potentiate the experience (IMG:style_emoticons/default/oops.gif) ) and had no immediate results with the ritual. I wasn't especially surprised by this due to my inexperience and forgot about the ritual. However, about a week later when I went to take out the garbage one night, I noticed a black triangle hovering by a tree that was close to the loft. Thinking this a figment of my imagination I slowly approached it and it then shot straight up into the air at high speed. I seem to recall reading somewhere (unsure) that Paimon's consorts Labal and Abalim sometimes appear in that form. I have yet to perform another evocation and have decided to further strenghten my skrying abilities and to work my way up the evocational hierarchy, working primarily with elementals before going back to the Goetia. A clear attempt to overstep my abilities that I have learned from, but any additional insights and opinions about the experience that I can utilize would be greatly appreciated. really interesting, working your way up is easier and will more likely produce tangible results. broadening your horizons and keeping up the mp and lbrp is good.

My own experience where I have summoned and thought nothing had happened was similar to yours, forget the full details, but I called an entity, considered it a fail, banished and tidied up and decided that since that one had failed, I would forget it and try another one within a few days. Some days later, I see an entity, totally unbidden as far as I know and it just won't go away LOL

When I mentioned it to a friend, he pointed out that it sounded very much like the one I had summoned a few days earlier. It was LOL - I had completely forgotten about it.

I think the lesson learned for me was that I need to up my banishing techniques (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wandwizard.gif)

I agree with Radiant Star in regards to becoming competant with banishing. Other than that, really, I don't think you overstepped your bounds, per se, as you mentioned. More like, you really didn't know what to expect, which is quite normal, even when you are "ready" for such work.

I've read on various forums that one shouldn't begin summoning until one is ready, and that when one is ready, one will know. This, in my experience, is true, to an extent. I didn't just wake up one day and was like "Wow, I think I'll summon so and so today", but it was more like an intiuitve inner faith (in some ways) and a direct knowing (in others ways) of my abilities, my capabilites, that came gradually over time. Basically, when you are capable of sensing energy, moving energy, sensing energy changes in the surrounding area and within you...hopefully, when you can percieve astrally, even if only by "impression" (or in my case, in mind), then you're "ready". When you feel that you are bare minimum capable of calling up, and sending away any intelligence, you are ready. Then, you will learn by experience, and that's another matter, as you've partially seen, LOL!

You'll discover that some of your skills were already there, in an unrefined form. Daily practice of your choosing refines them. That includes summoning. While I wouldn't suggest in any way to practice your refining with the Goetia, the elementals, or better yet, the ArchAngels would be worthy of practice.

In short friend, I don't feel you did anything "wrong", per se (Though, take it easy on the DXM next time. In the past, I attempted to raise the Kundalni while high as a kite from marijuana. And I was successful, to my detriment. So keep that in mind. Experiment only after you've gotten "good" at whatever it is you do, and then, carefully. On another note, that may be why you didn't percieve him. You were high as a kite. Keep in mind I don't know the effects of DXM, but if it's anything at all remotly mind altering to a great extent, things can get out of hand quickly if you don't already know both the experience/energy and the drug ---I'm happy to say that occasional marijuana use in TINY amounts adds to interesting experiences for myself.).

On another note, if you summon one day, and you don't see the entity, call him the next day (still banish after first summoning, of course, and treat the situation AS IF he's there). For various reason's, the first summoning sometimes doesn't go through on your end (as you've discovered). No matter, do it again. When it happens, treat it as if it's ongoing, end the opporation, and try again the next day. No big deal friend.

Thank you all for your advice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I will most certainly work on fine tuning my banishing technique and other methods. Frater F.A.M.E.; it's funny that you mentioned your marijuana kundalini experience, because as it turns out I had a very similar experience while I was visiting my friend in Colorado. We had all smoked a large amount (I also hadn't had any in quite some time) so the effects were far more drastic than I had anticipated. As I sat there I looked at the ceiling and noticed a poster that had a tie-dye color pattern over a human form that matched the chromatic ascension of the chakra points. I decided to perform kundalini yoga and had MASSIVE results. They were extremely positive and beneficial initially, but I soon became very nauseated and felt feverish. This also was probably potentiated by the lack of oxygen reaching my brain, due to the high altitude. All this is certainly food for thought. I'll definitely put a nix on the mixing drugs and magick thing, at least until I have a much stronger grasp on them.

Your chosen course of action is wise friend (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I suppose I have just one more thing to add, that I did not earlier. I'm not quite sure why it didn't come to me then, but it is this: You'll know when you are ready to summon, or to do anything actually (magick is QUITE broad in life, infinite) when you stop asking questions, and begin doing. It is the doing that will teach you the most, and you will find this when you have exhausted everything else as a matter of course, over time, and with little fanfare, (at least of the type that accompanies the Super Bowl, LOL!). Now, I don't mean stop asking questions all together...bah, you know what I mean (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Good Luck friend!

Very well put. Its like milling around a cold swimming pool. No-one wants to jump in. Many have touched the water with their hands and everyone is waiting for someone else to go in first. All have agreed that it feels cold. A few people have taken the plunge, they say its not so bad, you remain unconvinced because their voices sound funny and they look a little red, as if they are cold.

People say you would have to be mad to go in there, even so, most of the few in there look happy. They say they are experiencing a surge of energy, that swimming keeps them happy and they prefer it cold.

You long to jump in.

First, you must KNOW that you can swim, then all you need is a towel.

The reason it didnt work is because demons do not act nicely to threats...circles, triangles, etc...are threats. They are very disrespectful. Read about Solomon and you will know this stuff. Perhaps just trying to talk one through you psyche or spiritual energy will suffice? Do not expect to get a demon on your first try. *wink*
