Lately my studies have been heading into the weird depths of experimental chaos magic, with particular leanings towards technomantic experimentation and virtualization. I've discovered that many rites and rituals can be virtualized and performed completely via a computer. I've also learned some interesting things that can be done in regards to sigils and glyphs (my avatar being a small example of my experimentation). Anyway, so far I've found very few people have explored the use of technology in magickal workings, and I'm hoping that will change. I was wondering if anyone here has explored in that direction, or has had any interest. I would like to open up discussion and an exchange of information on this topic. 'd be more than happy to share what I've learned with anyone who's interested. So, anyone?

I am definatley interested in the use of technology in magick, and have been for a few years, but because I'm not interested in going through what's needed to learn how to program, I've ben satisfied up to this point to experiment with alpha state inducing music or sound waves, and the neat visualisations provided by Windows Media Player (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

On a more serious note, I've been thinking about using the software package known as Cyber Shaman, and have in fact had it on my PC since before the gentleman who made it stopped producing it. I just never got around to experimenting.

The furthest I've used technology, come to think of it, were a few occasions when myself and a few friends of mine used CHAT and I.M. to synchronize ourselves to projected into the astral to perform different workings, ranging from visitng places, in real time, to performing rituals. These times for me were rare (compared to my friends), but were examples of what could and can be done, easily. If I could program though, I'd experiment with 3 dimensional shapes and real time astral manipluation. Perhaps I should use the Cyber Shaman program, lol!

Actually, there is a lot you can do with it without learning to program. Admittedly, programming skills help with some of the more advanced tasks, but a lot of things can be done at the user level. For example, I've found that there are many benefits to charging my computer as I would ritual vessel or container, such as allowing me to charge digitized sigils. I've also conjured and linked a small servitor-intelligence to my system. My computer is only a 950MHz PIII, but I've seen 2GHz P4 and Athlon boxes that run slower and less efficiently. None of this has required me to actually program anything.

I'm not familiar with Cyber Shaman, but from what I've seen based on a few quick searches on google, it looks interesting. I'll have to see if I can procure a copy.

Using chat and IM to synch up is a perfect example of virtualization. I've been considering building a virtual realm online for similar purposes. If you're looking for something to allow you to work with 3D shapes, I've found that Bryce 5 is a great piece of software for creative visualization.

This is a tough concept for me to grasp. I've always relied on an ability to feel my way through magick and I have not learned to feel through technology. I know of some people that claim they can feel others through the computer, but I've never been able to do it. Without this, I am not certain I could achieve results. Interesting...

Feeling through technology takes a little practice. It's a different sort of energy than most are used to, and it flows at a much higher rate, with a much higher information density. If you'd like, I've got several practice exercises that can help you get a feel for it.

Charging your PC to charge Digital Sigils? Nice, why didn't I think of that, lol! Interesting, and fricken useful. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

For the Cyber Shaman program, look in your PM box friend, I've just sent it to you.

And yo, that Bryce 5 program is AWESOME looking, I mean, WOW dude. Thanks big time for the tip (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Virtualisation huh? I want to hear more of your ideas on this friend, I.M. me and we'll talk. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Note that I usually have my messenger set to "Invisible", but send a message, and I'll reply (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Makaveli, I've found feeling other's through the PC to be rather easy at times, though sometimes, the sh*t doesn't work , lol! I usually feel a person through thier avatar. Their connection to that avatar, what it means to them, thier principles, how they view themselves or wished to be viewed, enables me to link to them, and feel them after the initial energy. It's fun to experiment with a friend to see what the other looks like astrally. Once you two (or more) connect directly, using the avatar is pointless (too me) except for maybe strengthening the connection. The reason why this doesn't work sometimes (and this is my guess), is that the person doesn't feel anything for his avatar. Just a guess. Sometimes you get "junk" energy. Maybe it's due to a "bad day" magickally too for all I know, lol! It could also be for other reasons too of course, but you'll figure them out.

I have used my computer in magickal work. To create anice picture or a sigil or even a text and then delete it can be a nice sacrefice. I also send spells and charms and Energy conected to emails and forum posts. Also my computer is my diary, my spellbook, and so many other things, it is an inportant magickal tool for me.
