The Washington Monument has the words "LAUS DEO" inscribed at the top. They, translated, mean "Praise be to God".
Consider that the "all seeing eye" on your dollar bills are also the symbol used in Alchemy to represent "the various "elements" and forces needed for magical work in the quest for physical transformation and spiritual illumination and immortality". It also bears lots of resemblance to the Eye of Horus and its imagery as passed down through the ages.
