Greetings all!

I have been thinking.. and reading and such and came to wonder. Say I am dreaming and realize I am dreaming, or purposely lucid dream. Whilst lucid dreaming what if i wanted to go to the astral plane? And then of course since I am in control I would go there (i think). Would this be the same as astral projecting normally? Or would this just be a dream where your mind makes up what the astral plane might look like?

Does the mind already know what the astral plane is like?

If so, would dreaming about it and actually going there be the same??

Sorry, just letting my mind wander.

Thoughts anyone?

Peace

Dreaming is Astral Projecting. We do it every night, but usually forget it in the morning. Occultists usually split the difference between Astral Projection and Lucid Dreaming as the difference between intentional vs. unintentional projection. A lucid dream is when you are dreaming then your waking memories come flooding back to you and you realize that you are in a dream. If you are good at astral projection, you can use a lucid dream as a springboard for easier AP-ing.

Astral projection is when you consciously will yourself out of your body, an OOB (Out Of Body experience), and explore the area or really any part of the world, and possibly other worlds. The astral plane, however, doesn't work the same way as the physical plane, and you may be looking at the past or future of the location you're viewing, so it isn't that good for spying like what the CIA try to use it for.

Thank you Slayden!

You really cleared all of that up for me.

But I do have a question. You can use a lucid dream to leave your body?

I have lucid dreams often... but usually use them to run around and fly. or do other stupid things, haha.
But now that I know this I can try and AP.... or something like that

Well, the way I've understood occult theory is that dreaming is a kind of astral projection in the sense that your personal dream environment is part of the astral plane. So, when you become lucid, look at your hands and will yourself to be someplace else, and you will be in an AP in the same way that you would if you induced it from the waking state. However, if by "to leave your body" you mean leave it into what Robert Bruce calls the "real-time zone" - that is to say, astral projecting into the physical plane so that you end up in your room looking at your body - then you will need to feel for your real physical body while dreaming and then attempt to exit using a projection technique.

When you are dreaming, whether or not you are lucid, you have already left your body. You are, technically, astral projecting whenever you dream, but the dream acts as a kind of cocoon or bubble. It's not really protective in any way, rather, it's a small environment that you willed into existence from your imagination. Try willing it away or willing yourself to another location next time you're lucid.

From my POV astral projection is leaving your body into an alternate reality. This alternate place co-exists with the mundane world but is not very perceptible to natural conscious senses. Some people can perceive bits and pieces of information from this astral realm. IE clairvoyants, mediums, those with astral sight. For all we know schizophrenics are locked in a state of mind where they constantly periceve both worlds at once. Lucid dreaming, really any dream, is similar to Ap in that we percieve it in much the same manner. The difference is that a lucid dream takes us to a world that is within us. What a person experiences within a dream is in a world that is of themself.

In short astral projection shows us what is around us, outside of us; where as a lucid dream shows us what is within us, that which is of or own self. Inner versions vs. outter visions.

I just noticed this subject and wanted to put in my two cents worth. First off I have not had a willed OBE or AP ever all have been spontaneous. I have had lucid dreams and spontaneous AP experiences. Both have similar and different qualities to them, though there seems to be more differences. The major difference is that in AP I cannot manipulate my environment as easily. There was a much more concrete aspect to AP then Lucid dreaming. Also the beings I experienced in AP had more of a sense of individuality. In the lucid dreams I could make people do what ever I wanted them to do. This could not be done in AP. The last thing I noticed in AP was I could distinctly feel a connection to my physical body, a sense of being in two places at once, though the body connection was only slight and not distracting. This is not so in a lucid dream. I could not feel my physical body.
