look at this thread for an example

http://www.sacred-magick.org/index.php?showtopic=5235

I noticed that on the upper right corner of every post there is a tool bar that allows me to "rate" the post according to its content. Naturally I had to try it out. I clicked on a random rating then refreshed the thread. I saw a little icon on the left hand corner and a little tab that said list. When I clicked 'list' it gave the fatal error message. So my question, is this something thats just new and still has some kinks before it works right or what?

Apparently I'm artistic. At least thats what the little dodad to the right of my screen name implies. And ile, if you see this, you weren't confussing as the dodad next to your screen name suggests. It was just me tooling around without asking questions first. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I had our developer to install it today and see if anyone like it. We'll remove or keep it depnding on how useful and aesthetic it is.
That is if it's also working properly.

Well one quark I've noticed so far is that if you click the "list" function next to the icon (you put an "informative" icon in my post) it displays a fatal error message;

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: return_html() in /home/smforum/public_html/sources/action_public/xmlout.php on line 316"

I gather that the "1 x informative!" means that one person found that post to be as such. But what is the purpose of the list function? Seems like it doesn't have one. Maybe its suppose to be a list of those who found thought it was informative?

Now I don't know if anybody else can actually see the icon next to my user name because nobody else seems to have one, that I can see at least. But next to my user name is an icon of a pallet for paint and if I hoover the cursor over it, it says I'm artistic. If I click on the icon it gives me this message:

"Fatal error: Call to undefined function: return_html() in /home/smforum/public_html/sources/action_public/xmlout.php on line 405"

My next little question here is what is the purpose of the icon next to my user name? And can I change it?

Over all I think this rating system is a novel idea and I like it. It will enable members to use a good and simple critique of the content that they post and it'll allow us to sort of "tag" the few luney toons who come by and post outrageous things that don't really make any sense and just make you wanna say WTF?! I'm not sure I like the layout though. If the icon could appear next to say the date and time, or at the bottom of the post, rather than within the post itself where its disrupts the text I think it would be more aesthetically pleasing, imo. But I have no idea if you can even alter that kind of thing or.

Yup, I also notice the errors and the icons was not exactly places where I wanted it to be. I'll talked about this monday with my developer and if there's nothing much we can do about it (it's a third party plugin) then it will be gone soon.

The errors has been fixed and it's working fine on my end here. I'm not sure how usefull this mod will be in the short and long run but let's hear what other members has to say about it.

eRate - rate posts!
A small, AJAX-enabled modification which allows your members to rate posts, trying to eliminate one-worded replies.

This little baby adds post ratings to your forums which allows users to rate each post.
It's all AJAX powered and uses the intergrated IPB handler so you don't need to worry about load times, just click and rate!

This mod will add it's self (when installed correctly) to every users profile, the bottom of every post, new column on every forum view and a icon against each username within a post.

So it is not properly installed yet? I've tried to add ratings to a few member's posts and when I click the icon I feel is appropriate it prompts me with a loading message then the other rating clear out and nothing else happens. Also when I click the list tag (on the first post in this topic) instead of giving me an error message its says "fetching" then does nothing.

Probably just trivial quarks but I thought it'd be best to bring what I can to your attention.

Another thing, and maybe it's my laptop--when I was doing a mouseover on the icons, I accidentally clicked one that I didn't mean to. There should be a way to correct that if you're trying to rate a post and accidentally click the wrong icon. Maybe a confirmation box can pop up?

And when I click on the one on my profile I don't get any errors, I just get a blank box. Nothing else happens.

It displays them for guests. Does that mean anyone can rate without registering & logging in?
Also, I find it a little annoying to have two extra things flanking either side of the top of a post... why not have 'em both on the same side? In their own column? Or running along the top?
