Greetings
I've been meaning to ask this question of mine.
When someone casts a sigil 'spell' they basically send out energy into the universe.
That's one point of view. It's opposite view is that when we create a sigil it actually only works on our own subconscious mind in order to help us bring about what we desire for ourselves. The two views seem opposed, but are in reality simple poles of the same process.
QUOTE
My question is HOW does the universe recognize the spell's aim and realize it into reality?
Because you do. The universe is intelligent - call it God, call it the Force, divine Intelligence, whatever. This is a really simple, or potentially very complicated question with a correspondingly simple or complex answer. It depends on what you can accept. Conscious intention and thought are 'made' of patterns of energy, the same patterns that make up everything else in the entirety of creation - thought is just one way to experience them. When you project thoughts into the universe, you attract harmonic patterns of energy. The problem most people have is only that they are putting out conflicting thoughts that cancel one another out. For instance, I make a sigil to get a good job, and then don't show up for interviews. My actions and thoughts are putting out conflicting signals, so nothing happens. I think my magick didn't work. I'm wrong.
QUOTE
What causes it to alter reality?
The same thing that causes you to think, to live, the world to turn, and the light to shine. It's just the way the creation works, according to the Law. There are complex physics to be sure, that enables the enactment of that law on this plane, but it is the Law that affects those physical laws to work, not vice versa.
QUOTE
How does this happen and by whose decree?
This is the same question as the above two questions, and the same answers apply. If you want me to write an essay on the complexities of how it all happens step by step, I'll give you my experience and take on it, but it will be long, very, very long. I'd be happy to do so. (IMG:

Especially when your not actually even making a connection to a deity. Its kinda obscure dont you think?
Mmm, that depends on your interpretation of 'Deity'. Magickal practice without magickal theory is not necessarily inert, but it's nonsensical and defies our intellectual reason. With a strong foundation in theory, the practice is no obscure at all - it makes perhaps more sense than some of the ridiculous explanations science tries to come up with at times to explain our world to us. Deity, divinity, is all pervasive, within you and without you, with no gaps in between - if you're an atheist it still applies, you just call it something else, like the universal energy field, considering it bereft of any unique intelligence and instead simply an amalgam of experiences from all the beings that exist in this reality, and perhaps others. Either way is right, and either way it is through this unifying medium, however it is defined, that magick operates.
