Well, first of all I will state my bias. I usually think of an attack as the last possible source of something, unless I get the feeling that I was under attack…for me it means that my chakras flair up (usually 3 or mote) and not in a truly pleasant way. And it feels like I am going on the defensive, but I am not doing it consciously, so it is uncontrolled.
Where you sleeping on your back? If so, I would really verify that it was not sleep apnea.
“Sleep paralysis” is another common phenomenon you may want to look into. It is where the brain is out of the dream state, but the brain is still producing the drugs needed to keep you from moving during the dream state.
This is also an indication of the possibility of lucid dreaming. Where you are you and aware but in the dream world. I once got up out of bed to the kitchen and turned on the light more then a dozen times only to wake up and do it again…totally frustrating. Specially when all I wanted was a drink of water.
Now, being that the person who usually sleeps in the room has night terrors…things change.
Other then panic, is there any other identifying feeling? What where you dreaming about prior?
Anything that can help narrow down correspondence or type of possible attack/entity.
Now for a Cleansing concept…it seems to be the norm of this site to not post formulas and how to’s except in areas accessible after 30 posts. In this I will ride the line as best I can, but this is a how to, so I am probably going to get this edited.
By your profile you are in Vegas, I also live in a Hot desert area, so Fall is actually the time you want to do Spring cleaning. You have had all your windows and doors closed all summer and using the AC and fans to move the air around.
Other then cleaning aids you will need a spray bottle, some sea salt or kosher salt (I prefer kosher) and some good smelling citrus fruits, preferably lemon or lime. And what ever amount of time you need to dedicate to a thorough cleaning of the house.
In the spray bottle, you want to adjust it to super fine mist, and the liquid should be probably about ½ the juice of a lemon an 1 teaspoon of the before mentioned salt per quart. Test the solution on an area of wall to make sure it is not sticky, adjust fruit juice till it is not sticky. And make sure it does not discolor your walls or carpet.
The idea is to work from internal rooms, and flow the old stagnate energy out the door ways. So plan accordingly.
In room one, start with a centering ritual (LBRP, calling the corners, or whatever you are comfortable with to get you into the feeling of ritual work, as well as have the attention of the nice protective entities)
Then move, clean and organize everything in that room, and you want to be able to spray all the walls with your solution at some point, preferably getting every inch of wall. The whole time you want the concept of old energies going out and experiencing the rest of the world renewing themselves, and new clean and fresh energies coming in.
You may want to stop at some point and invite those entities that have been residing here to leave in good will as you are renewing this place, and only want fresh and positive energy in the room.
After the room is clean and organized do the door, and whatever wards you do to doors to allow positive in and negative stays out.
Then go room to room, do the hallways and then it all goes out the door or doors. Really spray the solution lightly on the walls but heavier around windows and Vents.
Good time to clean the air vents and change air filters as well.
Good time to throw out things not used in a long time. If you have not used it in a year, and it holds no sentimental value and costs less then a day of work, there should be nothing keeping it in your home.
If you have high ceilings, this is going to be a difficult task. And because you are doing the whole house it may take more then one day. But do it one room at a time, as completely as possible. Even if it means taking everything out, vacuuming, dusting and spraying, then putting it all back in and finishing with the door and windows. Then another room the next day.
If you are going the one room a day rout, make sure you clean everything in the items taken out before returning them to the room. This includes clothes. No point in cleaning something to bring in the old dirt/energy right back in.
Then Sage the house as needed.
Remember closets and such as well. Posters and other frames. It may be time to get new ones anyway.
It is recommended that this be done once a year, I honestly do it once every other year or when I move in to a place.
If you get any negative hits after this then you really want to study them and understand them, as you invited them to leave, and put a warning to new negative things from coming in. also at that point you are in the moral right to do as needed to remove the entity. (Hence the when moving in the night before I move in usually. Takes less time when there is nothing in the place.)
That is all I got, I only know of one person who got a negative hit after something like this, most everyone else was pleasantly surprised a week or two later how nice everything felt. I learned it from a friends mom about 15 years ago, but I have recently seen a few very slight variations on this around.
Including family is good, but that then means two rooms at once, and in a small area it can be more trouble then it is worth.
Hope that helps or gives you some ideas.

Never be afraid to ask things, worst that will happen is people will think you are an idiot, but if they think that because you asked a question…well lets just say they are lacking something in the intelligence realm.
I will clear that up by saying there are times that it is not correct to ask questions, like while at a theater while the movie or play is going on. Or when someone is working very fast to repair or save something, other then “what can I do to help” questions should be kept to a minimum and instructions followed blindly unless you are sure you know better, or get the feeling that that person is out of their element.
But back to the point. Anger if originating from you (meaning you did not feel like it was angre through some emotional link) is perfectly good and healthy, in fact for me it is the most normal and healthy response to have…something is invading your space, anger is the correct response.
As for tossing and turning, you might want to look into that, not the healthiest of things, though very normal. It is considered by some as problems in the sleep cycle. I sleep on my stomach or side (not healthy for the body) but once out I do not move.
As for dropping things and such, it is probably more to do with nerves and energy used in anger and self-defense/preservation. Not sure it is attacking per say, but it should be invited to go, after that it needs to behave or leave.
This is a very good board, with alot of info on it. Search is your friend. And never be afraid to post to a board...just learn not to argue on them.
Good luck

QUOTE(Justice_Angel @ Oct 27 2007, 03:00 AM) So Last night/morning about 3:30 to 4:00 my time I woke up unable to move or breathe or speak this lasted about a couple minutes then I heard what I thought was someone in the hallway (being that I verified it today that everyone was asleep at such said time) I was sleeping in my daughters room(who frequentlly complains of night terrors and such)... The experience you describe -- lying in bed, paralyzed, being unable to breathe, and fearing the presence of an intruder -- is what was originally was meant by the word 'nightmare': the word meant more than just a bad dream. Nowadays, as paxx notes, it's often called sleep paralysis. It has been regarded as both a natural phenomenon, and as a supernatural attack. Traditionally: This is regarded as a supernatural assault by a malign spirit or a projecting witch. Sometimes the inability to breathe is accompanied by a sensation of weight on the chest, as if the attacker is crushing the breath out of the sleeper, or throttling them. The spirit or intruder may or may not be visible, and people have given various descriptions of its form -- a dark shadowy figure, or an old woman known as the 'Old Hag'. 'Hagridden' originally refers to the stressed, sleep-deprived look of someone who is ridden often by the Old Hag. The standard naturalistic explanation: The body is largely paralyzed, by the action of inhibitory nerves, during REM (dreaming) sleep, in order to keep the sleeper from getting up and acting out the dream. It's possible to wake up, or to fall asleep, a bit out of the usual order -- if one has been dreaming, the mind may come back to consciousness and feel as if it's awake, without the dream-state being wholly dissipated, so that one is still paralyzed as in REM sleep, and still experiencing vivid (but imaginary) sensations. It is said that someone who half-wakes into such a state and realizes that they're paralyzed is likely to become frightened and experience an alarming waking dream as a result -- hence the panick-induced inability to breathe, and the fear of a malign presence. To shed the paralysis, try to move fingers or toes: as anyone who's watched a dreamer's fingers twitching might suppose, the extremities (and the eyes) are under the least inhibition, and this may help throw the state off. The naturalistic explanation above may shed some light on the subject -- it may be very true that a dream state is involved -- but it impresses me as oversimplified. Obviously, it isn't a part of the normal workings of the nervous system to paralyze the muscles involved in breathing during dreams. Some people experience this often, to the point of it disrupting their lives badly. For others it occurs only intermittently, or once. Still others never experience it at all. It happened once to one of my relatives; he said that he prayed, and then found that he could breathe again. I have woken up so slowly I saw dream-images blended into waking vision as if they were real objects at my bedside, only to slowly disintegrate as I woke further, but there was nothing alarming in my experience: I've never encountered the original Nightmare. Hufford http://www.amazon.com/Terror-Publications-.../dp/081221305X/Added: in case it isn't clear, I'm not taking a position on the nature of your experience, or what the nightmare experience is in general -- only pointing to more discussion and research on the subject. sleep paralysis is also one of the theories used in the famous alien abduction cases, synptom are fairlly familiar with those in sleep paralysis, you feel like something heavy is on top of you, sometimes you feel like you are out of breath, you cant scream or move at all...then come the images, visions, this when "abductees" claim to see little green men with big eyes and you know the tipical description of an alien visitor......just one question, you haven't seen anything strange when you feel this strange synptoms??? like strange creatrures, because this may seem ridiculous to some but this might be a case of alien visitors, just giving my opinion....

Well I must admit, the title caught my eye hardcore. I was expecting a horse/squid to break through time and space to eat you O_O lol jk. But seriously though, Until you are able to get the cleansing that paxx suggested done. A bowl of fresh water, sea salt, lavender or rosemary essential oil does wanders ^^. Also not just smudging with white sage, but also with mugwart and cloves. Parasitic entities hate that, its not the best smelling thing but effective. Loud noises also work well, banging things playing garage music, hell throw a rave in your house before cleansing it XD Drum and bass that bastard out of your house. Pendulum (the band not the tool) could do wanders if its scared away by noise, or just simply yelling at it.
I'm one of those people that don't tolerate such an intrusion, its fine and dandy that you were here first. You don't have to like me, but you will respect me, and using me or my child as a food source is blatant disrespect. (or maybe I'm just an a$%*#!* pardon my french) But I don't tolerate people mooching off me so I'm most certainly am not going to tolerate it from someone or something without a body, fresh out. Perhaps not the most safe attitude if you are yelling at something be prepared for it yell back. I've had it happen to me before lol and I won but yeah most of these things are like low level scum. No more intelegant than a physical pest, like a roach or leech. The ones that are sentient are the ones that require convening and some sort of ritual.
All this is assuming that some is there of course, if your witch sense isn't tingly then some sort of divination can help ^^
peace.
I'm so sorry I started ranting O_o when I heard you say it was affecting your daughter I kinda took it personal because I've been there as a child.
