hello from Croatia! I'm interested in magick so i have come across this page!
I have many questions but they can wait. One I am wondering is probably the basic one: Is magick only ritualistic? or does it exists like in the movies where one can summon a fire or lightning from his hand with a word or a thought...
I really would like that one answered because i'm just not the type to be doing rituals and God know what summoning and marking myself for life.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wizard.gif)

Magic isn't only ritualistic, but it is far more subtle than what you're describing.

Sigils and the like have an element of ritual, but not a full on ritual like you're thinking. Sigils and most other forms of magic will work subtly to cause a desired change(get a job, get a car, meet a lover, gain a personal truth, find adventure), but you're not gonna shoot a lightning bolt from the palm of your hand. Although that would be pretty cool.

well...thx, but i'm not interested in getting a car or meeting a lover..that can be done without magic, as it should be!!
I'm just interested is there more to magick than chanting because even though you all say " I was chanting for an hour, and in the next month a girl i liked called me.. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/001.gif) yay!!! " that's not magick..sorry if i offended someone but really!!
magick should be instinctual, should come from knowledge. When you decide to cast a spell you should use your energy, not a fictional from a candle or who knows what. It should be emotional but contained. Like using your hand to reach for an object, you shouldn't question the fact how you did... i guess i ask for a lot but bear with me...what's the point??

Well, this manga, and most of the work of the girls from studio Clamp are quite accurent. The onely mangas closer to reality as Tokyo Babylon (and not 1999 X) is Rental magica.

I totally agree with you. Basically, magick is about knowledge. That's why within the professionnal field, wizards call themselves men or women of knowledge. But most of the time it's more frustrating and takes a lot of time. The point with this path is to understand humanity, by knowing youreself, to face youre drakside etc...

The point of magick is THE ASCENTION (yes like Jesus). This doesn't mean to become a god but onely to escape from the cycle of reincanation in the process of evolution.

Onely problem with me is that it seems I'm on the badass's side!

You never get what you want but hey! It's the game and oit's got rules! Take it or leave it!

But knowing that one can know everything he wants about anyone, manipulate reality and sometimes talk to spiritual beeings is soooo cool!

But as everything it's got to sides and I don not regret to have entered the field a long time ago

So for the ascention... Well whan I've gotten started it was different from now! People were more open minded and ready to develop their own techniques. The most common way would be to practice trought indian yoga (chanting mantras etc... I know that you've done it and were disapointed but still... it works). But you may not have the chance I had to go to India with an exchange program called AIESSEC! It don't think one can find a true sadu (wise man) or yogi or... guru (a genuin one, not one of those new age people).
But on the other way, if you are Croate then you are catholic, so in youre place I would go to the basic kabbala stuff (some say it's onely dated to de 12 th century but free manconnery has been officallu founded in the 18 th and still they claim to relate to the temple of Solomon). Try the merkebah visualisation at first in order to purify youre soul and after that...
Try it out, I'll tell you what comes next!
