As I have tried over and over to type up the review for the gates of the Necronomicon, I have been blasted with what I can only describe as freak experiences. Now I know I am one to be melodramatic about things, and I know I do not have the best Reputation as being a truthful person (everyone always thinks I am just trying to stir up trouble), but for some reason I felt a force trying to stop the post. You can take it for paranoia, apophenia, me being on drugs, or just a flat out liar (because if I was you, I would), but these are the strange things that have plagued my life while TRYING to write this review. Remember the most important thing you can do especially when it comes to stuff that effects your soul is to question everything! So here are the strange things that happened while trying to write this review (I swear I am not mocking Simon or the Necronomicon!
)
The power has gone out causing me to lose the information I was typing the other day (and I worked for a long time on it!). So I went to school after class I felt the need to talk to one of my professors (a published and respected archaeologist). We were talking (all quotes are paraphrased I do not have a good memory) about his new book that he is almost finished with, which is on his trips to Ireland and the Irish view on faeries and the old Irish pagan culture. I being Irish myself, found this subject very interesting. So as we got to talking he started opening up more and more, and somehow the OTO local to the city (whom I hang out with from time to time) came up. He has never heard of them, so I started going off about the reasons I didn’t agree with them and other things. He told me about another professor’s graduate work on druids in America, and if I was interested in Irish mysticism I should check it out. I said “I meet so called druids and they are the same as wiccans (not that there is anything wrong with wiccans, I am just looking for people true to the culture my great grandparents knew) , but that could be just the ones I know, not saying they are all like that or even the majority is because I don’t know.” HE looked at me with a sparkle in his eye and smiled and says “my generation is very different from yours, I am 55 years old, and I see this remote control culture, this point and click your desire culture, and it seems more people a phony these days. Just look at how the kids who come to this class dress! I have survived many fads and everyone looks ridiculous, yet they only realize it 10 years later. Most people you can’t even talk to, like I know you are looking for different ways to understand the microcosm and macrocosm, I can tell that from just talking to you but try to talk to other people about this shit and they look at you like you are crazy! You know how you can tell if someone is full of shit or not by just talking to them?” Then he smiles again and it becomes clear, humans have a herd mentality, and who better to exploit it for power then those who know the art of magick!
So as I was on my way home I thought what about all these orders and thoughts that spawned off of OTO (or should I say A∴A∴) members, (sciencetology and the Necronomicon to name a few) where they aware of the power they could get if they got masses of people to practice their rites? If you practiced these rituals were you giving power to them, kind of like the laborer makes the CEO rich and powerful? I went to bed that night and had a magick attack, nightmares, sleep paralysis, had to banish them off me (the person in the next room over heard me screaming in my sleep.
After all that I figured I had to at least try to throw these ideas out there.
