If you're new to magick, I highly recommend the following book:

"Modern Magick" by Donald Michael Kraig.

The beauty of MM is that it not only gives you theory, but actual magick to work with, and then lots of practical advice. Kraig's book follows along the lines of the Golden Dawn, but is versatile enough that you can branch into other systems of magick after working through it.
