That face I saw staring back at me I am definate that it was not my own, unless I grew horns and my goatee turned white in 10mins. Im not sure who that was cuz he didnt speak and vanished as quickly as he appeared. It freaked me out lol.
I have to ask what the reason is that you are obsessed with evoking this spirit? If seeing a face freaked you out, what will you do when he appears and is speaking to you?
I am always amused that half the posts in this thread are in the vein of "How do I conjure the demon (insert name)?
The other half of the posts are "I am being tortured and wetting my pants because demon(insert name) won't leave me alone! What do I do?"
Well, I don't believe in my personal responsibility to prevent other's downfalls and they usually don't listen anyway. So here are some ideas to be explored.
How have your experiences involving the drawing of the pentagrams or hexagrams to invoke or banish the elements and planets influences? Can you visualize a flaming circle easily and hold it without concentrating much?
I have always felt one of the main reasons that these beginning rituals use simple shapes is both because of the symbolism and the ease of learning to visualize. charge. and hold them in your mind.
When performing the LBRP or a similar ritual are the circle and pentagrams formed firmly in your mind? Is it easy to see the archangels or are you still simply imagining them?
This is of course my personal opinion, but eventually the pentagrams, hexagrams, the circle, and the angels no longer need to be visualized they actually appear, and you will begin to more easily see things on the magickal plane.
These excercises and/or some skrying practice will help develop the ability to see that which isn't visible to the naked eye.
If you have already completed these early (and lifetime commitments) of a magickal learning program, you may wish to move to the evocation of an elemental.
Finally you should know that myself (and from what I can tell, most others) don't see the demon in all it's physical glory until a large number of attempts. In my own case I completed dozens of evocations where I saw nothing at all.
Here is when you need to kind of fake it. Give the spirit a command and wait for it to be fufilled. You needn't see it for this to happen.
If you have performed the LBRP you probably remember the first time when the pentagrams, and the circle where not visible on the physical plane at all.
In a while you may see slight glimpses, an outline, or simply blobs of energy, from here you may see the completed picture(a description lacking effectiveness, but you get the point).
I have found that with each individual spirit I have had to go through these steps, although they do become easier. Others may have differing experiences but I have never seen a complete vision of the spirit on it's first evocation.
To be honest, Athena's and bym's advice on practice is overwhelmingly suitable for this thread. Their are no shortcuts, at least that I have seen work.
This may sound cruel but if you are starting with evocation for your beginning magickal excercises you are simply wasting your time, as such I hope this is not the case.
In part I wish to know how long and what magickal work you have indulged in? (Be SPECIFIC please!) I noticed you wrote that you have studied magick since 13 but this helps little without a declaration of age.
It would be helpful to know what skills (skrying, banishment, ritual work, talisman or sigil creation, divination, etc.) you bring to the table to aid you in your attempts. With these skills stated it will be easier to see what needs work and what doesn't.
The Work of Ars Goetia involves a number of these skills so any areas already developed will aid you.
