Here's an idea. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/Lighten.gif)

Construct your usual triangle and circle, place a tab of acid or mushroom or E tablet in the triangle. (DO NOT INGEST. I do NOT believe in mixing drugs and magick. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lightning.gif))
When it comes time to construct a sigil, use the names of LSD or MDMA or psilocybn, or whatever, and then vibrate their names.
I also do not beleive that evocation is the "be all and end all" of magick, but I can't help but be fascinated by the possibilities. I have taken MDMA twice (last was 3 years ago), and honestly, it taught me so much about myself, my body, and what I could do with it. Dance to me is more than prayer, it IS magick. But I also believe drugs are a crutch, and I'd much rather reach the spirit of it, then have to rely on taking the substance.
Anyway, just wanted know what you fellers thoght about that.

Or if you had the substance, would you still need to construct a sigil? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/hmm.gif)

I have moved this here as the dicussion of drugs is best carried out in the 'members only' area.

I am not sure that you can seperate drugs and magick. My experience with entheogens (magick mushrooms) is that they are magickal, a very powerful magickal tool for those that know how to use them. Like any powerful tool they should be used with great care.

aaah Magic Mushrooms

The onesfound close by to Paradise Lane at Glastonbury are the best. The fabled parallel reality of Avalon becomes that much closer .... and the effects remain with you for the best part of your life.

For the melchisidek, the magical effects of magic mushrooms becomes an essential tool for walking between worlds. And for also seeing that which others cannot see and for hearing that which others can't hear.

Consumed correctly and under the correct conditions they open the mind up perfectly to higher dimensions. They successfully attune the consciousness to an acquired awareness of higher frequencies ... an awareness which remains always ...

Throughout life ... wherever you may be ... a casual refocussing of the eyes reveals the shadows and shades which are the thin veils between the dimensions and the worlds. Continued practice enables the melchisidek to see through the veils into those places. Further practice enables the melchisidek to walk through the veils.

Currently a casual hand and arm has been through. The veils are currently visible most days and the urge to walk through is very strong.

Some would say a poor delusional soul suffering the recurrent damage of too many mushrooms. I say a soul who is honoured to see the other worlds and to see that which others cannot see! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/yahoo.gif)

Hey! This life is just a dream. As in any dream the sleeper can assume control. Magic is gaining that control and using that awakening to full advantage

I have moved this out of The Hive as Kinjo advised me that flyingmojo could not read it there. Sorry for any confusion (IMG:style_emoticons/default/snstgs7.gif)

Entheogens are most certainly magickal tools. How could anyone frown upon the spiritual work of shamans around the wold employing (with great respect, reverence, and the proper application [i.e. healing, gaining knowlede of the spirit-world, etc.]) the use of powerful plant-teachers like ayahuasca, peyote, and mushrooms as doorways into consciousness?

It's just that I didn't want to give the wrong impression ("Duuude, let's drop some acid and do the Goetia!" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/groan.gif) ). It's also that I rarely ever bring back any fire from heaven.

That's AWESOME, Merlin, but no true for me. I've had some pretty illuminating experiences, but they've always just gone into my "Captain's log", to be compared with the rest of my life, personal outlook on myself & the world, & how I move thru it. I've tried several times to take them in a way that would be more in line with the healers of different cultures, but either I'm not ready yet, or I just don't have the proper knowledge (having grown up being taught the ways of Zelda, Pepsi, and MTV).

So that's why I'd be interested in trying, at some point, to actually just communicate on a one-to-one basis with the spirit of some of these drugs, rather than just ingesting. The benefits gained, I think, would be more than log entries, but instead a working relationship with profound spirit guides who, since the dawn of humankind, have been teaching us about the art of living.

Hmmmm...from my experience, timing of ingestion (if any) is the key. Taking some sort of mind altering drug and then performing a ritual like the LBRP may counteract some of the reactions of the drug itself.

I imagine that this sort of thing could be totally used as a way to manipulate what sort of reaction one wishes to not have, like being able to keep higher brain frequencies in tune while removing the chance of loss of focus or 'drifting'.

*shrugs* Just an idea. I wouldn't suggest it to someone that has no real understanding of magic, or a clear intent of what they wish to accomplish by doing this.....simply because too many ideas may creep in and next thing the person is evoking Loki and wondering what the hell is going on....lol.

Greetings!
I've followed a shamanic path now for over 20 years and have ingested many of the botanicals used in the global shamanic circuit. Some were interesting, some were horrifying (others blissful). Alot depends on your views/feelings at the moment ... I've had some incredible experiences without ingesting any substance other than water. Communicating with the living world around you in an intimate one-on-one way is very insightful. Alot of our 'bad trips' are a result of our dealing with issues whilst not in balance. Allowing ourselves to trust the powers and our own decisions can really influence the depth of the reality. I know that I'm a control freak and so it is/was hard for me to 'let go' and experience an altered state. Some people shouldn't even try until they are assured that they know themselves well enough.
I'm rambling now, so there's my 2 cents.

Rest in Peace Bym.

Hmmm ... I'm not comfortable with the idea. Like Bym I LIKE to be in control and thinking clearly. I've had some truly amazing experiences during deep meditation - but I don't think they would have been, or at least SEEMED as profound if I'd had been under the influence of any substance.

Fact is my only experience of anything other than a natural adrenaline high, is alcohol. My experience of perception and capability when heavily under that influence in the past has not been encouraging enough for me to want to experiment with anything else. That bump on my nose in my pic? I percieved that it would be a most excellent idea to pick a fight with a gigantic huge sober scary woman whilst tanked up on vodka. That and a few other non violently-caused nose breaks anyway. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tomato.gif)

With that experience, how would I be confident that basically reliquishing control to substance would make any experiences I had in those circumstances real - or just warped drunken/drugged perception?

Definately not for me.

RRRRGGGGHHH!!!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/00000047.gif)

No offense, guys, (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) but so far, you've all totally missed my point! Whether or not you would take drugs during a magickal working is completely irrelevant.

What I am wondering is if anybody would try summoning the spirit of a particular substance, not ingesting said substance. If you want to ingest, fine, go for it. If you don't, that's cool, good for you. But, like the Huichol Indians and the Natives in S. America, I belive peyote and ayahuasca are spirits. Same with mushrooms and many other drugs.

So, if its a spirit, then it can be summoned as if it were on Solomon's list. I find that idea interesting. So that's why I posted it. Unfortunately, I am not ready to do any evocation. But I would be very curious if somebody else tries it. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

What better way to invoke the spirit of the shroom than to take the shroom?

I have invoked the Judder Man without drinking Metz at the time, so it is possible to contact the spirit of the shroom or peyote or whatever else you like.

The shroom spirits are hard for me to really describe. They might be ET's that are able to form a psychic link to shroom users. It might be a program that was encoded into the shroom and then seeded across the universe. It might just be an odd experience of the meat mind (this, whilst I am a skeptic, is least like the experience I had). Certainly something seems to 'tune' into the shroom user.

There are other techniques for activating the higher circuits (as Leary points out, we only really get numbers I - IV working in day to day life). Invoking the spirits of various entheogens and psychadelics may help in the process.

I can understand those that, even though they have not taken drugs, are opposed to them. I would say to those people that there is every possibility that the stories you have heard are part of a very big smear campaign. There is a reason by Leary was kept in solitary for so long for a minor drug crime (he was most likely framed anyway), why entheogens are illegal, and why governments across the globe want to you indulge in alcohol and opiates to dull your mind.
