Getting a New Dog, Advice pls Options

I love dogs and have owned several guard dogs. Until years ago, one of my girlfriend introduced me to a toy dog breed and now I owned an imperial shih tzu for 2 years I loved dearly called Mouchi.

A few months back, I bought a Yorkie (yorkshire terrier) named Tasya which are very much terrier at heart. She was very active and naughty. Mouchi hates her. Tasya likes to charge Mouchi's ass like a bull for the fun of it, and at one time she was so naughtly excited chasing Mouchi's ass around the house, she fell down from the second story and to my dismay Tasya died. Mouchi seemed relieved though (IMG:style_emoticons/default/rolleyes.gif) and don't have to protect her ass from Tasya anymore.

I wanted to get another toy dog, especially a miniature schnauzer, a westie (west higland terrier) a pug or at the very least another shih tzu. It seemed Mouchi is not very sociable to other dogs and I'd like to have a dog who at least doesn't frustate her as Tasya did. What breed do you suggest I should get which may have compatible temperament as Mouchi's playmate?

Westies are FANTASTIC little animals and can be very very laid back, almost like a mature retriever, like I have. I do think that you're gonna have to get a mature dog though rather than a puppy so they are out of that irritating 'naughty child' stage that so upsets your existing dog. I've got a salt and pepper miniature schnauzer and I think he is a wonderful dog. He is not a very calm animal though. He is very alert, very protective and also very, very loud. Seriously... he makes a LOT of noise when he is disturbed. He will challenge strange dogs or people without regard for his own safety. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/black eye.gif) But he gets along just great with the cats! So, If properly introduced, this dog should have no problems with existing pets. I agree with Anu though that a more mature animal might be a better fit for your present dog.

Thanks for the replies. I do want a puppy than a mature dog though. Rarely people here will sell mature dogs except guard dogs for business premises. If they do sell mature dogs for pets, then I will question their motives and the dog's temperament. I am still confused. Mouchi definately does not want me to get a new puppy since she seemed to want to own me for herself (IMG:style_emoticons/default/13.gif) yet I missed Tasya terribly. She was terribly cute.

I'm not sure what to do. If I adopt new yorkie, then the possible new naughty pup may shorten Mouchi's life (if she's as shockingly naughty as Tasya) but then, I could pick a less active puppy from the pack (I did pick the most active and friendly one when I picked Tasya) Second option may be to get a shih tzu pup since the breed are much less active than a terrier, usually very well mannered, quite and aloof.

I'm picking up a new yorkie tommorow! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) Well, I've been missing Tasya for a month and today when picking up Mouchi from the doggie salon I chatted with the owner, and my vet happens to be there and he told the owner of how beautiful Tasya was, making my heart sunk. I finally decided to call my breeder and told her what happened and asked if she has any yorkie litter left. She has 2 left and sympatheticly asked me to come over and get it. Still have to pay for it, but I'm looking for a big discount she promised me. Two puppy is not much a choice to choose from, but hopefully.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

I did went to see the yorkie, but I don't like it's temperament. Too jumpy.

There's one shih tzu I am interested though, his name is "Majesty's Destroyer Candidate" or "Crown". He is 5 months old, a litter from Thailand and Canadian Champion [Creative Item Lister 'Machris' (Can.Thai.Ch LaShalimar Briary One Hot Item X BPIS Thai.Ch Music Dancing With Creative)] The asking price is $600. The breeder toldme that he has a calm temparament, but the price a bit expensive for a shih tzu (standadr only $250-$300) What do you think?

Well, I have 3 Shih Tzu now (and one Rottweiler) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/13.gif) and I'm getting another Shih Tzu (or maybe two!) I'm not sure if I want to finally go into Shih Tzu business but I'm giving it a thought since I dearly love this breed because of the joys it had brings me and hopefully other owners of the same breeds.

I just paid a down payment for a black and white Shih Tzu bitch yesterday. The pup is still 2 weeks old and she's moving in with me around next month.

So, I'm looking for a name for me and I need your suggestions at least to get some ideas to start with (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)
I'm looking for some cute, fancy, or even occult related girl names (and boy's since I'm also looking for another pup to later mate her with).

I'd say visit an animal shelter to pick out a new pet, but it sounds like you've made up your mind. *shrug* At least in the US, 25% of animals in the shelter at any given time are purebreds, so if you get to know the staff and let them know your needs a lot of time they'll call you when an animal comes in that they think would fit your needs. And if you're planning on breeding them shelters are probably not your best option as the animals are usually spayed/neutered before they're adopted out.

I'm a cat person, I kind of have to be, and that's how I've always found my little fuzzbutts. All mine have been shelter rescues or adoptions from the vet, people would just abandon their animals at the vet clinic (horribly cruel, I know!) and so the vet would adopt them out after a time.

You know, the problem with me is that I'm very impulsive when it comes to online shopping and just got myself another dog today (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) now I have 5 dogs!! oh no.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/nonono.gif) going to have drive to pick him up in another city in a few days.

It's a mini schnauzer just like yours and for the sakes of my other fur babies I do hope this one is a calm one and as wise as his face or I'll have to crate him (my dogs roams free in the house).

The breeder said that he's not yappy, quiet yet alert and at 3 months old he is well socialized with other dogs. I do hope so.
I thought mini schnauzers likes to chase cats?
