Some of the "traditional" ways to use black salt are if you feel a hex is on you, put it down where you will cross it repeatedly, like at your threshhold, or over your porch steps. If you want to repel the ick neighbors, lay it in a line between your properties as a boundary. If you want just general protection from it, combine it with other ingredients in a mojo bag and either carry the bag with you, or put it in the northwest corner of your home.
I put traditional in quotes because these are generally Southern American Hoodoo, but with Pennsylvania Dutch influences. Use it how it makes sense to you. Think about the properties of salt, when on the ground, when in your mouth, in your body, in water, even chemically, etc. Then think about the properties of black, your feelings, how it reacts with light, when it shows up in nature, etc. Then you can look around and see how others use it and put together the best methods for your own personal use.
