How long has evryone been practicing magic/sorcery? And how long des it take to get quite good at it? I havent practiced much, but I've read extensively on the subject and am interested in the practice. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/juggle.gif)

Only practice will yield any results. I started practicing - we'll say, I formed the intention to become a sorcerer - when I was fourteen, had my first direct magickal experience when I was 16, and and began to accelerate from there. I would say, in practice devote yourself entirely to the intention. If you are diligent and have faith in yourself, you'll have a 'breakthrough experience' and after that you'll grow exponentially as long as you do not get discouraged by apparent 'failures'. It's been my observation that no one can actually fail at magick - there is simply a wide spectrum of success. No matter what happens, you'll most likely learn a lesson, though it may take time.

As far as manifesting abilities directly - TK, AP, OBE, weather control - those things happen naturally if you constantly push for them throughout your magickal career.

Daily meditation, weekly ritual of any sort, a hefty amount of faith and devotion to the intention, and you will be a competent sorcerer within five years. Individuals vary of course, but I know people who became quite powerful in three or four years, and some who took upwards of ten to truly grasp and apply their magickal potential.

peace

I became interested in the Occult when I was 13 and my older sisters friends were grave robbers and wiccans.

I do not think I accumulated a signifigant amount of power until I was 24. Now that I am pushing up on 33 I realise that having power is not as important as deciding what to do with it. If only I had realised this years ago I would have saved myself many hardships.

Best o Luck

I would say I'm possibly in the same realm as smasher666, I didn't evolve until my mid 20's, and I'm pushing on to 33 as well. I was once told by my first occult teacher to practice the LBRP for over a year before moving on to other exercises. And I did just that.

I'm not saying that younger people should not study the occult, but I think some level of maturity is necessary for the magician to be adept. The minute you think you know everything, is the minute you need to go back to school.

You cannot build your castle on a foundation of sand my friend.

Well, I started when I was 11. So, it's been about 12 years. I did begin to blossom when I was about 15. Sometimes it takes years, sometimes it can be an immediate occurance. Don't get discouraged though if nothing happens in the begining. Usually a lot of the time it's personal development that needs to be worked on before any type of magickal exercise can come about.

I've been at it for 5 years, I started when I was 14 (I turn 19 in two months), and got results immediately. I haven't done anything that hasn't worked for me, yet. Some people say that it's probably because both my grandmothers were into santeria, and spiritualism, but I don't believe in any kind of power transfer. lol. Some people are just naturals, others need practice, as with anything else.
