Your Talismans And Other Items Of Assistance You Carry. Options

I have a small number of power objects I carry with me. Two malas, and one of the talismans of Mercury from the Key of Solomon.

To me a power object is an object that is imbued with a certain purpose and meaning, therefore embodying a subtle energy of the astral associated with that meaning. Having it on you for a long period of times reminds you of that energy, and hooks a small part of your subtle attention onto it, thus connecting you to it.

I've carried power objects other than these in the past, and have found that for a period of usually a couple of years, I'll carry the object at all times, sometimes even take it from room to room when i'm at home. Eventually, however, I find myself retaining the same mindset when I do not have the object with me - to me this means that I've successfully integrated that object's purpose, it's spirit, into my own. At that point a power object is no longer necessary, and I either store it safely, or pass it on to someone who will use and appreciate it for what it is.

In the past I carried a pouch with a few stones in it - a smoothed piece of petrified wood, for connection to the past, to primordial Earth, engraved with a familiar celtic knotwork (four loops in a squarish pattern) which represented balancing the elements of that primordial, integrating them into a stable system, a lodestone to attract my personal power, and the overall energy of the pouch's intent, and a cat's eye, for Sight.

I carried it at all times for two years or so, and over that time period I become far more conscious of my world, of the energy in myself and in the earth, and became overall more balanced emotionally. One day I just forgot to take it with me from the house, and after that never had the compulsion to carry it again.

I also carried a silver ring for a long time, set with a small amethyst. It was less feminine than it sounded. Anyway, I aligned it with the purpose of giving my more control over my mind, the ability to attain and maintain a centered state of mind. I became adept at this practice within the year, and the ring disappeared...

The malas I wear now each represent a different spiritual principal I seek to attain, which are more personal than the intentions of the other objects. I have worn them for a year now, under all circumstances - and to me this represents in my intentional actions that I seek to have these principals with me at all times when I have assimilated them fully - and this past year has been one of phenomenal growth and understanding for me, in both of those areas of my spirituality. THe Talisman is a double sided medallion bearing both the third and fourth talisman's of mercury from the key of solomon - Mastery over the Spirits of Mercury, and Attainment of the Principles of Mercury, respectively. I have carried this one for more than a year now, and it has functioned as an effective bolster to all of my psychic abilities, and given me a greater ability to ask for and recieve information from the Source, as well as a stronger communication instinct. I'm a gemini, and I took on this particular object partially to tap into the strengths of my predisposition on a deeper level.

I think that your connection to, and faith in a power object is what makes its magick effective. Every time you have it on your person, your subtle mind is reminded of this purpose, of this intention, and it slowly becomes a part of who you are.
