Before I get started, I am compelled to mention that I have never been much of dog person (my connection has always been to reptiles). Ok, here is the deal. Recently I have been bombarded by canine imagery and am somewhat confused to say the least. During my first experience with AP I was in a way greeted by an anthropomorphic canine, he never spoke but was nonetheless somewhat of a guide. This happened Nov. 30th. That night I dreamt that 3 dogs were fighting outside my house one of which had a very distinct scent (like sandalwood or frankincense). I don’t remember any other instance where I had noticed a smell in a dream. Anyway, he communicated to me that they had been dispatched by someone. I don’t want to go into to much detail as the dream was quite personal and I am still working it out in my head… The following night things got really strange and I still can’t believe what I saw. Here is an excerpt from my journal

“…. I cannot believe my eyes. It is currently 1:28AM Dec. 2, on my way back to my bedroom from the bathroom I heard growls outside my window. Sure enough 3 coyotes fighting meters away from where I had dreamt the dog fight. Now to my recollection I have never seen a coyote in this neighborhood, I know they do come by here on occasion, but I have never seen it...”

I should point out that I was wide awake at the time- I had finished meditating almost an hour before and was reading prior to going to the bathroom. I went outside but the coyotes took off. I was tempted to follow, but didn’t since I don’t think my neighbors or anyone else would understand why a man in boxers is chasing after a pack of coyotes. Well, if anyone has any thoughts or similar experiences please post… I can use a fresh perspective. Thanks in advance.

Greetings!
You left out some important facets to the experience... If the 'canine' wasn't unfriendly to you then I have some ideas. You can PM me if you'd like, I know that some of you prefer not to be too public about things. LOL! I totally understand. If the 'canine' was friendly, then ask him your questions directly. Whatever you do, don't lie to him. All will be well. If the 'canine' is unfriendly then perform a banishing, eat something and go to sleep. Keep me posted. Thanks! -Bym (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

Greetings BYM,

Funny you should be the first to respond to this given your avatar of Anubis. If you are interested I posted the AP experience in another thread (First OBE Experience). Neither the anthropomorphic canine figure I met (during the AP meditation) nor the dogs of my dream seemed malicious. I guess you can say that they were neutral and in both cases served as guides but were reluctant to give away too much information regarding themselves. Though he never spoke, the anthro-canine was in fact quite helpful as he guided me to a female being ( I call her a priestess in my journal) who bathed me and strengthened my astral body… it felt like somewhat of an initiation into the astral…sounds corny, I know.

The dogs in my dream were sent by a female. She was beautiful and was wearing plain street clothes. She carried herself in a very sensual manner with deliberate languid gestures and often spoke in riddles. Her power and wisdom was undeniable and I felt very much at her mercy. We discussed aspects of my personal life and my studies in magic and hermetics. She said I was progressing but had much to learn. She told me her name was an “arrangement of letters” at which point six or seven letters flashed before me. I am incredibly frustrated with this part as I can recall the dream in vivid detail with the exception of the letters (I am quite sure that T was one and for some reason I keep thinking her name began with T)???? This all must seem incredibly silly.

I originally thought my dream was a subconscious regurgitation of my first astral experience, but there are some key differences. For one the principle figure during my AP was the anthropomorphic canine and in my dream it was the woman and the canines were secondary. There is also the element of dialogue, there was none during my AP, all communication was through flashing images and thought forms.

And then there is the physical reality of the three coyotes outside my house…I wish I can get across how disturbing the feeling was when I first saw them. I was thinking about the dream prior to going to the bathroom (in fact I was reading through Cirlot’s Dictionary of Symbols to begin deciphering the dream). On my return there they were, right outside my window. Of course this can all be a coincidence after all I dreamt of 3 dogs and I saw 3 coyotes…but what a strange and personally meaningful coincidence! Never have I had something like this resonate across so many different planes (astral, mental, and physical). Unfortunately, I have not seen the woman or canine figures since I saw the coyotes… so there remain many unanswered questions.
