I know not much as I would like to about egregores and other thought-form created spirits. But knowing that egregores are given a life and must be banished after their "doings". What if we give them a life of lets say... "until our physical deaths"? Perhaps creating an egregore, or 2? to protect us from the moment 'til the day we die, perhaps gaining strength as they progress with us, almost like companions.
There is no reason why I see that this shouldn't work, but then of course there is the energy barrier, but could we not create a vampiric egregore (lifetime to fullfill for the other egregores), to psychically drain energy?
I'd like to see prespectives of those who have created egregores or dealth with them, of course, personal experience is highly appreciated, but those who know more about egregores than I can contribute too.
Thank Ye.

Hi all,
Well, it sounds like you're referring to a Servitor, since you don't mention a group. I always think of egregores as a group effort. The word egregore means "watcher" from the Greek word Grigori.
A Servitor can fulfill a "lifetime" guardian role, but maybe not for someone who hasn't created single-purpose Servitors first (for two reasons, below). First, a "lifelong" Servitor would take tremendous creative will -- in the magnitude of a egregore, but without the collective will and energy of the group--and a properly engineered design.
Equally, I've always found that my art and skill improves monthly and yearly so it's alway better to create shorter term Servitors, engineering them to draw energy from the Universe or the elements, not from me, but bonded to a single mission and to self. This way, they grow, without becoming a burden, and when you reabsorb them, you enjoy a natural high and a boost in your own "power." Then, create a newer Servitor, with what you've learned. (I know it sounds like I'm trading in cars here! Perhaps an apt metaphor in a way.)

Myroku asked how to create a Servitor and do you have to feed it (see my other thread on feeding). But here's my method of "creating"--
Because magick is the CREATIVE art and science of exerting will (the important word being Creative), there are a hundred thousand ways to do it. Basically, though, it is of the self. You are working with your subconscious. The more creative effort you put into DESIGNING your servitor, and by this I mean concept development (now I sound like a graphic designer, no?) , the more empowered the servitor becomes.
For me, this doesn't involve elaborate ritual, but it does involve creative energy. My basic belief is that there is power in NAMES. One of my first magickal acts (as a teen) was to discvoer my own true name (a name I never disclose). Since I'm creating the Servitor, I believe in naming it. Then, it tends to become easier to control, easier to summon, easier to reabsorb.
For some of my friends, they use elaborate correspondences a la 777, and construct ritual, sigils and so on from these correspondences. Whatever works for you, but to me a Magickian is first and foremost CREATIVE, a creator, a creative force. So, for me, dogma is out, for the most part. (Hence, ignore the step by step below, and design your own way... as long as it feel intuitive right.)
First, I tend to do a tarot reading to ensure I've "got it right" and didn't miss something that might create an out-of control servitor. I rely a lot on the tarot because it taps into my subconcious. In fact, I often use the Thoth tarot cards as the only "tool" in my magick, visualizing everything from the cards.
Then, I use creative imagination and mental energy to create my Servitor. Visualizing is one way. I'm not the best visualizer, but I manage. Others are naturals. I am creative, inventive and imaginative. So, for me, it began with creating my own "language", specifically my own character system. No, I didn't base it on the Golden Dawn or Enochian or anything else. I've practiced and dabbled in all traditions and dogmas, but I find they work only reasonably well for me. I need to impart creativity. I saw another post somewhere else (forgive me, I forget who it was) where the poster showed us a pencil drawing of his Servitor. That's the stuff the creates a Servitor. Creative imagination.
I start by engineering concisely what my Servitor's mission, lifespan, persona, character, name and other factors are, including the built in controls. Then, in classic Chaos style, distill it down. This sounds like Sigil creation, and it's based on that. But where we implant a sigil in the subconcious then FORGET IT, the Servitor is different. The creation starts much the same, but then you move on to creating some kind of symbolic "home." I use maple wood (one friend uses crystals). My farm is covered in maple trees. I carve my new sigil, even empower it with a drop of my blood or semen, I tend to create a mantra out of the non-duplicated letters in my Servitor sigil, then chant until I reach a true level of Gnosis. I prefer the mantra chant, my own created mantra for the Servitor, because it, together with my created sigil (and the name) contains the entire instruction code for the servitor.
I also visualize as I chant, and you will definitely feel your creation, probably see him, at that precious moment of gnosis. In fact, the "design" aspect, the thought, is all pre-birth, so to speak. Once I begin the Hum, the chant, the mantra (or whatever method you use to achieve Gnosis), I let my mind run wild, run amok as it were, free-form visualizing, with increasing intensity.
You'll know when it's done. You'll see, smell or hear your Servitor at some level. You'll definitely feel it.
The purpose of the above Gnosis, was to implant your Servitor's existence so deep into the subconcious that your conscious mind cannot destroy the Servitor with doubt or logic.
I bond my Servitors to disc of maple wood I cut myself and carve with its sigil (which has encoded instructions for it's reabsorption, either, time coded or a simple automatic reabsorption if the sigil is burned (hence the wood -- paper, however, is not sufficient for me, anyway).
Working with the Servitor, once created, must strictly follow your own intuitive logic. If you are using Kabalistic form, continue that for this Servitor. If Enochian, then stick with that.
It's a wonderful, empowering creative form of magick. In fact, of all forms of magick, I would say creating Servitors is the more primal and creative.
