Ereshkigal Options

Can anyone give me a description of what Ereshkigal looks like? For example: hair color, skin tone.

It pretty much depends on what She wants to convey when she manifests.

Of all the times I've seen her, a few things remained the same.
She was not tall or physically imposing. I'm 5'4", and She was not much taller than me.
She has high cheek bones, and angular features.
She is not skinny and is not fat. She's no waif, but neither is She a hog, just a good, solid build.
Her eyes are sharp and a very, very light shade of steel gray. It's like She looks through you.
Her lips are full and have a bluish tint to them.

Her other features change from time to time, I presume to convey different aspects of Her being.
Most often She manifests to me with shiny black (like jet) hair that is long and flowing.
However, She has also manifested with steel gray hair braided up so that it stands up behind her head. I don't really know how to describe it except to say that if you've ever seen any artwork of the Sumerian/Akkadian epoch, you've probably seen what I'm talking about. This hairstyle seems to be when She is taking the role of judging someone or something. It accentuates Her age (She is Inanna's elder sister), and the wisdom in judging and the authority that age confers.
When I see Her in Her realm, She is dressed in a long scarlet gown with rather elaborate black trimmings and carries with Her a sceptre topped by a ball that is cloudy and the only way to describe it is that it is all colors, but no color. Think about when you close your eyes and put pressure on your eyeballs with your fingers, those bursts of light that are very colorful, but can't be pinned down as any one color? It's like that.
When outside Her realm, often at places with altars and such, She wears a midnight blue dress, that is trimmed in silver and is tight to her body but not revealing, if you know what I mean. She still has Her sceptre, but also wields a dagger.

Others have described her differently, but not a lot different. Usually the modes of dress are different and She might be taller or shorter.
However, what everyone who's met Her has witnessed is the aura about Her. Like I said, I've never seen Her manifest as physically imposing, yet all in Her realm, and even those outside of it, show fear and respect towards Her, to the point that most in Her realms do not call Her by Ereshkigal, but rather the Dark Lady, or simply the Lady, and everyone knows who that referrs to. She carries an aura of immense power and authority. She seems to me that She is aware of Her power, and feels that She doesn't have to make a show of it. It's simply there, and I have the feeling that if you do not respect Her, She is quick to give you a lesson.

OmNamaShivaya, I dopn't think Angelina really fits. She's tall and striking, but just isn't. . .right.

Physically, the closest actress to what I have seen would be Julianna Marguiles. But still she doesn't have the eyes or sense of presence.

I can't honestly think of anyone that is famous enough that most would know of her that bears a very close resemblance. Just my experience.

Everyone must keep in mind that we are dealing with spiritual beings, they are not locked into a physical body as we are, and can pretty much appear as they want, although they have preferred "looks" if you will, that they tend to favor.

haha..hey sis..get what you mean..but i dont think there is anyone who can portray eyes and sense of presence that ereshkigal shows..and this from someone who only saw her once i my working..

P.S love ur blog too..though i havent reached the path walking stuff that many are doing just yet.

I believe she has different manifestations and reveals herself to different people in different ways. I can tell you what she looked like to me the second time I walked The Gate of Ganzir.

I stood before her and Nergal. She was naked. She looked to me very much the sister of Inanna but she had darker skin and perhaps a few years younger. Her body was perfect in every way.


Her hair and eyes both very dark brown. Hair straight silky dark brown <Almost black> Eyes big and very dark brown. Lips and mouth big like a movie stars. She was naked and I was e bit embarrassed

to not look away in the presence of Lord Nergal. However I could not avert my eyes. She smiled and Nergal seemed. as if he were about to fall off his throne from laughter. Somehow this

encounter was extremely funny to Nergal. In general though I have had some strange experiences with Nergal so I was not very surprised. I was also very surprised with how nice Ereshkigal

was to me. Especially as Inanna is my Goddess and there has always been a rivalry between the two. On my first trip to Ganzir Ereshkigal did briefly attack me by squeezing an area which men

find very sensitive. I have thought that action by her during my first time walking her Gate was symbolic in some way. Every time since which I have walked Ganzir Ereshkigal has always been

very nice to me. I have seen her dressed simular to a belly dancer covered with all kinds of jewels. I have also seen her dressed very Matrix / Goth / Vampiric. She knows that she looks good and

similar to many good looking women she likes to wear things to compliment her beauty. Again this is just my personal vvision of her. She may appear differently to other people. It is just a

manifestation presented for the human mind to grasp.

Mysticks description of her as looking like ANgeline Joiie is a good one except that Angeline Jolie would look like a big steaming pile of $h!t standing next to the dark goddess. <Not that I dn't think Joile is hot or love her for her charity work..>
