Potions can be created, vodun religion books have good recipes for them.

i'm no expert so i would go to find one from someone who is ... kind of like a pharmacist ... if you're called to make potions, i suspect you will soon find the resources and/or a teacher. personally, if i were inclined to take up the study of potions, i think i would start with a herbalist and go from there.

It's not too hard to "make" known potions which you can buy, just need the formulas and the right ingredients.

As for "inventing", then that's a biggy.
