The Sator Formula
Source: Cavendish's The Black Arts

One of he most famous of all magick squares, is the Sator Formula:

S A T O R
A R E P O
T E N E T
O P E R A
R O T A S

It is said that this magic square was believed to be able to:
- find witches,
- protect cow's milk against witchcraft,
- extinguish fire
- magically obtain anything you want (write these words in parchment with the blood of a Culver(pigeon) and bear it in thy left hand and ask what thou wilt and thou shalt have it ~ Bodleian Manuscript)

Several attempts of interpretation:
1. Arepo, the sower (sator), delays (tenet) the wheels (rotas) by his works (opera)
2. the sower is at the plough (arepo), the work accupies the wheels
3. the Creator (sator), slow-moving (arepo), maintains (tenet) His creations (opera) as vortices (rotas).

What or where - do you think he power of this magical square came from?
Anyone has worked with this formula and share you results please?
Other squares such as planetaries etc are also open for discussion.

must be with the blood of a Culver(pigeon), or I can use my own blood?
I could do a experiment, but I do not use anyone blood in any ritual , exeption is my own blood. it is, I do not know my own rule-do not use somebody else for instrument..

The square's origins are doubtful but it appears to be the two opening words of the Lord's Prayer in Latin (P A T E R N O S T E R or 'our father') repeated twice and arranged in anagrammatic form with additional letters 'A' & 'O' representing Christ as Alpha & Omega. Despite its probable christian origins it appears in a number of medieval magical texts under different guises.
