I'm currently having a look-see with this book... as kindly demonstrated by another metaphysical board online, there's still a lot of flak against psi-vamps, and with good reason. There are still a lot of vamps who randomly take energy from others without consent, but I just learned by reading the book that there are circles of psi-vamps that pick up stragglers, and try to instill them with ethics about how not to act like tards. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
But, even after mentioning this, it all gets ignored in favor of frivolous horror stories. 9_9

Well, I'm not here to gripe about message boards... anyway, there's a good deal of ethics in the Codex, but some of what she says seems like bull. But there's a good guide for energy use, and I think she touches on alternate realities. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) But I haven't read that far yet... so who's read it, and what do you think?

I have read this book. The concepts appear to be valid. It is pretty short and newbie info though. But I guess they wouldn't give out the good stuff to the general public <g>

I wouldn't give better stuff to the public right off the bat. Would you give a grenade to the rookie, or give it to the demolitions expert? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There are people who are ready for the information, and then there are people who are not. I've seen a lot of people so caught up with the glamour of flashy or advanced magick that they totally ignore their own path and act like an idiot.

One thing to consider is that the Codex, in part, deals with Michelle's specific beliefs regarding Kheprians. You can check out her site: House Kheperu. I'm going to hazard the guess that the parts you consider bull revolve around those beliefs.

I understand that she has particular religious beliefs in House Kheperu. That I'm indifferent to. What I consider bull are the statements that psi-vamps can ONLY be born that way. I've seen psi-vamps that trained to be that way, without being born into those abilities. Secondly, with soem side effects of draining. She's said that intense drains will cause dark red marks on the skin, or "devil's marks" or some such. I've seen and done worse, and nothing like this has ever happened. I've questioned many psi-vamps, and this has never happened. From my experience, and the experiences of others, the only way to cause physical wounding is by inflicting damage via physical energy. Draining doesn't cause such things to happen.

There are some others I disagreed with, but I'm too tired to go dig through my books right now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

There is some disconnect between the occult and vampire communities about what constitutes a psychic vampire. Occultists tend to use the term when referring to anyone who steals psychic energy from another, or who acts as an emotional leech. In this case, yes, one does not need to be born a psychic vampire, as anyone can learn to manipulate and steal energy.

On the other hand, the vampire community defines vampires in general as those which inherent deficiencies in their natural production of psychic energy. The only way for a psychic vampire to maintain their health is through the consumption of psychic energy. The reason why the vampiric community says one can only be born a vampire and not "turned," is because of this natural deficit.

Ultimately, the two communities are using the same term to define two different phenomenon.

Hmm...I think that would be a great book to pick up. I have a friend who's a psychic vampire. She's aware of it, but she hasn't actually taught herself how to control herself. So whenever being around her, people end up extremely tired, cranky, irritable and to put it plainly...drained. Of course at this time she's rearing to go. She also has "unethical" ways of draining people. Such as completely attatching herself to someone spiritual, at one point she dumped her boyfriend and moved in with a healer and began to feed off of him. He offered her a room to rent and she took it in a heartbeat. At that point the other person living there became so drained they moved within a month whilst the healer slowly became irritable. He was able to catch on to her though and had her move back home.

She also has attatched herself to "ill adjusted" people who freely give up their will power to her just to have her take control of their lives. She believes she's "saving" people, but in reality she's feeding off of the weak. She made one comment to me though that just sent up red flags. She told me she likes to "collect" people. Such as, finding weak and powerless people to look at her as she's some sort of savior. Of course, saying anything to her is like stepping on a land mine.

Yeah, I'm in quite a predicament now with her..lol. I'm at the point where I've decided to end our friendship (since when my thoughts trail to her I become very angry).

So, if you have any helpful hints out of that book, I'd gladly like some.

I reccomend the book for any practicioner who wants a basic field guide to energy manipulation....even if you do not practice psi vampirism, there are a lot of gems in the book.

My take on vampirism is that it is a bunch of bollox and that these people don't have any shortcomings of esoterical means as they claim. All the expertise and talent that so called vampires posses is the same as the potential of anyone else. But deu to the imagenary shortcomings they subconciously force themselves to work with alternative techniques relating to energy. And this I also back up from personal experience and other so called "vampires" that claimed to have missing chakra's and leaking aura's and it wasn't so when I looked at them myself. Vampirism is another path one can choose to walk if the methodology resonates with yourself, just like one choose to become a witch a druid or a magician or a scientist.

Therefore I agree with Ashnook that these type of books are informative in teaching anyone how to work with energy in general. Then again there are also books from Yogi's and other people who work with energy that are just as, if not more, informative.

everything is bull until you test it for yourself

i read some of her techniques and found them to be good

(again for the newbie)

but you'll find you have to start at the beggining more than once to see the finish
