Take a look at the picture above, I recently discovered this image and its tale in a korean publicaion.

The story is this, in Japan shortly before a teenage girl comitted suicide, she drew this picture, scanned it and posted it online. In korea this story broke out and it spread like wildfire. There are various posts around in korean forums that say that the viewer gets drawn to the girls blue eyes, they say they can detect a hint of wraith and sadness within the eyes. Maybe the girl had died with so much sadness and anger that her spirit haunts the image, or maybe the image provoke sadness, similar to the song 'Gloomy Sunday'.

The freaky bit is this, they say it is hard for a person to stare into the girls eyes for longer than 5 minutes, there are reports that some people have taken their own lives after doing so. People say the picture changes, as you view it there is a hint of a growing taunting smirk appearing on the girls lips or a dark ring grows around the girl or her eyes.

One thing is for sure, the picture has sparked a curiosity in me that I must find out, i do feel a presence when I look at the image, whether it is evil or not I can not judge. I would like to know what the global online community feels and maybe even experts in art would be able to resolve why the eyes of this image can draw the viewer in so deeply?

There was definately something about it, and definately a change in the picture as the staring continued, i did indeed notice the darkness round the eyes and the slight smirk, whether this is an optical illusion or an actual presense im not sure, but the former is more likely.

It's a very nicely done digital work that creates the optical illusion. I wouldnt advice staring into it for long since I think you'll feeding the thoughtform/phantasm of many and the servitor created will become stronger. It then will become a self fullfiling prophecy.

I stared into her eyes for longer than 20 minutes; though I usually can understand eyes within the first minute. I stare into her eyes and see myself for some reason...beautiful, yet demonic somewhat. I even spoke to her, spoke to her like i was speaking to myself.

I know not why people cannot seek into her eyes more than 5 minutes, perhaps she does not like them for they do not understand her. But I think I do, and spoke to her; I promised a poem to her if she would contact me in any way. Perhaps she'd compliment me for my works. She is me in another dimension I felt.

Anyhow, she did a wonderful job on the work and im willing to print that picture.

Thank You for the contribution

I didn't even look at the eyes for that long, but that night I had a horrible nightmare that the picture was just in front of me staring at me and I couldn't get rid of it. Needless to say I can't look at it at all now!
I sent it to my friend in south africa, he reckons its an optical illusion and he sent me this:

http://puzzles.about.com/library/weekly/blopiind.htm

On a related note, in my old house we had a large framed photograph of a victorian baby which my dad found when clearing out a dead woman's house. We kept it on the lounge wall. When you were sat up late at night it was in shadow and its eyes would follow you wherever you went, looking directly at you. It was a really sad looking child, like it had some inner pain or something.

I hated that picture.

Well, the reason I suppose the eyes stick out so well, is because they are at the viewers main focus....the center, which is shown in art classes. Another thing is the blue eyes appeal to the viewer more than the darker shades. The blurriness might also give some optical illusions to it. Yet this is only from an artistic view, I am not swaying away any ideas of its background. Though when I focused completely on the eyes and allowed my peripheral vision to scan it, the face somewhat split into two, and a second, older looking face, appeared there. I'm not sure if anyone else saw it, but it was quite entertaining.

This has reminded me of a haunted picture story that I heard some years ago.

There was a couple that used to come to our Bible group and they were discussing a fine picture of some kind on someones wall and it got round to them talking about a picture they bought that seemed very attractive to them at first. Later, they started to find things going wrong, a lot. I think they either felt that the picture had turned sinister or someone came in and felt that the picture was a bad influence, either way, it was bad in some way and they disposed of it. End result was a calmer life again.

meh I've seen scarier. It is eerie to think that the girls commited suicide just after posting this. But to me it says a few things: "Pay attention to me", "I'm sad, desperite and loney", and "I have a secret I'm taking with me to the grave"

She's very pretty too. However my reaction to the portiate wasn't fear, just concern. Like a father might have for a daughter in distress. I hope if the story is true her wayward soul finds peace from such an illfated life.

I stared at it for 5 minutes and all i could see was her expression changing and a big pain in the eyes, but that was for starting too much (IMG:style_emoticons/default/bigwink.gif)

Greetings,

I stared at this for 6 minutes. The face seemed to change a bit and the eyes seemed to grow sad but I think that was just my eyes getting tired.

Also I do not think this is a picture. I think this is a painting. Shoulders too wide neck to small beneath the chin. Hairline totally fake. It is a nice painting. I seriously do not believe this is a picture though.

Am I wrong?

Hmm.

It gave me a nice 3D effect and that was pretty much it. That and I noticed it looks unnervingly like Tifa Lockheart from FF VII: Advent Children. *shrug*
