I couldn't find a thread on weapons. More specifically blatant weaponery, like daggers, guns, arrow, sword etc so feel free to move this topic or creating a new thread. I'm looking at making silver bullets right now and I was wondering if there was a specific way they're suppose to be made. And no, they won't be for just looks.

i think its best to buy silver somewhere then.

Perhaps you can make a mould for the bullet type you need in clay. and pour the silver in it after you have heated it till its fluid. Directly pour the silver into the mould and back out of the mould. Only a small layer of silver will remain and you will have a shell this way to put the gunpowder in. Then you can fashion the back end of the bullet to fit in it.
Try taking an existing bullet apart to fashion a mould with. the back of the bullet should not be made of silver since its not fired at the targed.
I'm not that much a specialist on bullets really.
i know its also possible to make hail based bullets, for hunting guns. it would be much easier that way. you can put silver hail in it instead of the normal hail. i suspect it would be easier to fashion that way.

perhaps you should research information on how to make weaponry. There are many sites on the web probably on how to make these things.

May i ask why will you need to use the bullets? do you need to kill something with it, and what exactly?

Getting silver is not much of a problem. I'm not sure if a mixed silver alloy or coat silver bullet does the same job as a pure silver(or close to pure). I've tried making a mold out of polymer clay, but apparently the mold shrinks a bit when it's fired in the oven. The bullet turns out a but smaller than the casing. Size is a .22 caliber. I'm a bit nervous when it actually comes to taking apart a bullet. Although I've only done it once before, it was out of stupid curiousity. I'm still looking stuff up, like tools, and safety instructions.

Actually I've been teaching myself how to craft rings, I just happen to have some silver leftover from that. I'm not really a gun ho kind of person. Interersting enough my dad told me about a weird experience back in the "old" country. But that's a story for another time.

I wonder why the Lone Ranger used silver bullets?

Don't worry. It'll only seem kinky the first time.

Isnt silver more difficult to melt than lead? (I have to ask a jellery maker fieind of mine)
One of my friend's grandfather use to make bullets using an old bullet mold (its hard to find these days but they are still out there).

I guess if bullets cant be made maybe make an arrow instead???

Greetings 'plainsight'

You can buy a kit to make your own bullets. However if the 22 is rim fire you can not re use it. Its pretty simple to put in the primers powder and then pop in the bullet head. They actually sell a little machine to do this with. Please do not pry out the bullet heads. You could lose a finger like that bro!

This link may help.

http://www.outdoorlife.com/outdoor/shootin...,547526,00.html

I suggest making the cast a bit larger and then filing the silver a bit if its too big to fit.

Warning! If you make the heads so big they jam in the barrel the gun could explode in your hand!

Test fire by putting the gun into a vise and pulling a wire a safe distance away from the gun preferably behind something to protect you from shrapnel.

I am pretty experienced with bullet reloading but I think I would enlist the help of a pro to get the cast for the slugs.

If you are not handy with guns then I seriously suggest you hire someone to make the bullets for you.

Reloading is dangerous but I always enjoyed that aspect of it.

What are you hunting any ways? Weredeer? lol.

Using silver as a weapon supposedly/allegedly helps to sunder or disrupt an astral link. This link provides for the revitalization of the physical mass or allows for an astral entity to withdraw from a possessed host. The silver you use must come in contact with the victim. Silver coating may not work due to heat from the chamber or by friction burning/melting off the sheathing. Frankly, unless you are absolutely sure about the victim I'd not make the expense. Lead will kill just as easy. Better yet...find a different hobby. This way no one gets hurt! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/badmood.gif)

My grandpa and dad came across a bear creature when he was still a kid. He said the bear-thing climbed down a tree, hexed his guns usless and charged him til he used some silver. He shot the bear-thing dead. He said the corpse was bear-like but was both male and female. Sounds like one of those old man tales.

Apparently silver isn't used just to kill werewolves and vampire as Hollywood suggest.

I learned a lot working with silver (which was more through failure) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) . It's actually more difficult to work with than I thought, especially in very small objects.

Greetings,

Blacksmithing is no joke. I like to watch them make swords. Its very complicated and takes much skill.

May Vulcan guide you!
