Hindu Gods VS Gods of Sumer.

This thread has been begging ro get brought into existence for some time.

We have already discussed this in many other threads. Which proves it is deserving of a thread of its own.

Lets start with Marduk = Shiva.

When I think of ultimate authority these two names pop up on my mind.

Marduk slayer of the serpent and Shiva lord of serpents.

Bel (Marduk) was the bull of Heaven. Nandi the Bull is Shiva servant.

Vishnu = Enki.

Brahma = Anu

Ganesh = Ziku

Lilith = Ganesh

My Hindu friends please jump in and connect the dots as I am sure you will do a better job than me.

Peace

Ok..i shall start off..

Enki=Vishnu

Enki is the master of the sea and Vishnu sleeps in his snake-bed AadhiShesha(Ancient Snake) in the primordial Sea.Both are part of the Divine trinity in their respective religion.Both are known for their shape shifting abilitles and Vishnu has in his avatars appeared in many forms,as a fish,a tortoise,a boar,a dwarf,as a vengeful warrior,as a Half man half beast(lion faced),as the symbol of marriage fidelity and pureness as Lord Ram and completely opposite as the Casanova of the cosmos in his Krishna form.

Both are known in their worship as extremely smart and crafty dieties.For example once a Demon got a boon from Brahma that he could not be killed by no man or animal or any crafted weapon,neither at day or night,neither indoors or outdoors neither on the ground or in the sky and so on and so forth.After the boon,the demon ravaged indraloka(the heavens) and bhumi(earth) and destroyed many.

In his craftiness,Viishnu took the form of Narasimha,a half man half lion creature,so he was neither a man nor an animal,grabbed the demon and laid him on the entrance of his palace,so it was neither indoors nor outdoors,lifted the demon on his lap so he was neither on the ground on in the sky and tore out his intestines with his claws(not a crafted weapon) at exactly twilight so it was neither day nor night.Now thats what i call craftiness.

Beautiful story on Narasimha my child.

I have not worked with all of the spirits in the Necronomicon in my ten years use of it but i will comment on those that i have worked with

The Goddess eeyanna equates well to the goddess Durga.Both are the ultimate female being in their religions.Both have got the animal lion as their vahana or vehicle.Both have extremely similar handmaidens under them(kali and lilith).Both have got a duality of roles both as the divine virgin mother in one aspect and a very sexual role in another aspect(eeyanna in her influx of lovers and durga in her little known tantrik forms where she doesnt appear as the divine mother but as a naked sexual shakti that teaches the tantriks devotion through sexuality)

In the case of Asaruludu i most definitely think he is not a divinity in the range of the divine status of Marduk or eeyanna or enki but more of a different race of spirits(lesser divinity) who are subservient to the major divinities,just like kali and lilitth.He is a spiritual advisor and teaches the adept the ways of Sumer,so i would guess he is much more like the spirit guides and Maha gurus of the hindu pantheon.

I have not had any experience with Ziku before but it is very cusious to note how similar his sign is compared to the sign Om in hinduism.i do not know how to draw them and put them in this site but if someone can pos post the signs it would be good.

Greetings 'OmNamaShivaya',

That craftiness certainly sounds like Enki. I saw a picture in which Vishnu was carrying a martial arts weapon in the shape of a pitchfork. However in an issue of Black Belt it said that Vishnu used a different type weapon and that it was Shiva who used the pitchfork, Do you know anything about what God uses what martial arts weapon? I would like to see if this has any relation to the Gods of Sumer.

Argh..i typed out a long informative post that my Dad accidentaly deleted..lol..

The trident as its commonly known by hindus is a very popular weapon used by many divinities but more often used by Lord Shiva and Shakti.Shivas trident is supposed to have immense power,the power to destroy the known world.He lent it to Arjuna during the Mahabharata i believe.Heres an informative picture on Lord Shiva.Very beautiful.

Shiva1

heres another one where he really looks like marduk to me at least-Shiva

Vishnu in every one of his painting always has ocean blue skin,he has a conchshell in one hand and has a ever revolving disc revolving around his index finger on the other hand.This revolving disc is said to be able to go pass any known material in the world and will seek out the enemy of vishnu and behead him(kinda like a heat seeking missile)

Kali and many guardian dieties use the sickle and or scmitzar and also a kind of bullwhip to drive away demons.Sangali karupar(Balck warrior of chains) actually uses a thick long and heavy chains as his choice of weapons.

Indra the King of the Devas uses the Vajra/or thuderbolt as its more commonly known as his choice of weapon though he also uses the bow and arrow and a type of hammer on occasions.
