Hey WyrdScience
My frames of reference will be different, so take everything I write here with a bucket of salt. I'm Chaos-oriented, so my first inclination would be to do three things -- at least this is what I'd do.
I believe in TRUE NAME. Spiritual and Magickal names (my point of view) are really just names to identify yourself at a high level and "position" your work (again, my opinion). It can affect your work, certainly. Divorcing yourself of a working name is fairly straightforward. Banish the name in your own mind, or more formally if you want to charge the intention.
But what I would do, if you don't already know it, is divine your true name. Since I'm Tantric/eastern oriented, I believe in rebirth, and believe we all have true names that will be forever us. They aren't just a name. THEY ARE US. I did a post on how to divine this elsewhere that worked for me. (link post is
http://www.sacred-magick.org/index.php?showtopic=4304 ) The thing about the true name, though, is it should never be disclosed to anyone (even closest friends). The ancient belief -- empowered by millennia of belief -- is that to know the true name of anything is to be able to control it (even a god).
But once you know it, just simply calling on your true identity should effectively banish all associations to your previous magick work name. Then, simply rename yourself (the outer persona, conscious magickal name versus the subconscious true name, I mean).
The next thing I'd probably do, but only because of my leanings towards Chaos, is to create a protection sigil specific to banishing Ulric. Implant it in the subconscious and forget it, and you're done. (see the Chaos section if this interests you). Or turn it into a talisman if you want.
Then, I'd likely create and name a servitor, specifically empowered to work with your new persona (I'm trying to think of a better word, but this seems right). If you want, you could also encode your servitor with a "watchful" purpose -- to watch and protect from any "straying" back into the old persona. Servitors work for me best of all.
Of course, I'd also advocate strongly a few well-focused divinations (preferably open-ended divining such as tarot) to establish if your sigil/servitors will be effective, if you've effectively abolished the old persona/identity/name and finally if you've truly discovered your True Name. But that's all just my way of working, without knowing your particular preferences/style. For me, as a Chaote, they all are equal, as long as they can be proven to work. This is why I use Thoth Tarot methods so much. Nothing reassures me that my "invented" methods have worked faster than a few consecutive and meaningful Tarot reads. Why settle for hoping when the Tarot (via the subconscious) can tell you all you need to know. Proof of effectiveness is all I care about as a Chaote.
