Evoking God-forms, can you do it, or has anybody done it? Options

i am extremely intrested if you can evoke god-forms such as shiva, vishnu, horus etc. into physical manifestation?
Is it possible or has anyone performed before? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

To be honest with you, I have never tried. I know that invoking gods is the norm for many reasons, I also have heard many not so great stories of attempted evocations, of things more powerful then those present (god forms included). There is a YouTube video story of an attempted Anubis evocation, fun listen, but big mistakes where made in my opinion.

I typed out a really long story (no value to this post) as to the mind numbing power you can be under when a deity in invoked. That at a minor little Sabbath ceremony just saying hi and how you all doing to the gods, and blessed be our friends and family, me not even being pagan. This was not a negative experience, just shockingly strong.

We talked about this for weeks. People in the circle that night, who normally where friends of friends, came to our bi-weekly get together after that to talk about what happened at our next get together. The ones in that group had talked it to death by that time on cell phones and 5 impromptu get together through out the next two weeks.

I have to say, this is still the most powerful ceremony, mass effect, where “nothing” happened, I have ever experienced. It was a religious experience. It was the feeling of a great rock concert but about 100 times stronger. Even now 3 years later I often contemplate taking on a patron deity and becoming pagan.

When someone says evoke a god form, I try and imagine being totally in control and commanding during the event mentioned above, and can not conceive of it. I am not taking of physical form here…just standard evocation.

The only way I can think of it working (standard evocation) is by having a good selection of the pantheon invoked, one person with a strong tie to each god invoked, and then trying to get a minor deity evoked.

After giving this some serious thought, I come to one conclusion and only one. Why?

There is nothing I can think of where this is necessary. The only conclusion I can think of is ego stroking. Perhaps it is respect of deities, perhaps fear, but I am drawing a blank as to a decent reason to do it. But I am coming up with decent ideas for movie plots.

One typically invokes a god as evocation of a deity is rather dangerous. Lesser entities are able to be evoked because their- for lake of a better word- power can be handled by most people. Gods on the other hand are far more powerful, and as such will over power most people. During an invocation the entities are asked into you, and the natural limits or capacity of the practitioner applies, keeping the entity’s power within one’s own limits, and therefore one can be reasonably safe. Evocation bypasses those limits a bit like removing a resister in electrical circuit, and as with the circuit so to with you.

Mind you, some gods have less power and some are even quite friendly, and with the right relationship and fail-safes- such as a large crystal to absorb and channel away excess energy- in addition to standard practices, it can be done.

Some time ago a tried an evocation with a similar set up for Nemesis- the personification of divine retribution- it went well, not good, but well. I was working on the premise that the fewer worshipers the less power an entity has, and as a lesser god with a narrowly defined jurisdiction he would be predicable; it was a calculated risk. After three months of invoking him for longer periods once each weak I felt I knew him well enough to try an evocation. The crystal worked as I wanted, but not to the existent I wished- it did not attract the energy only socked up ambient energy. I had to terminate the experiment after only five minutes due to a painful ringing in my ears. All in all interesting but not practical.

Good God(s)! Meditate on the diety in question and follow the leads...If you have no idea on how in Invoke then you shouldn't attempt an Evocation! If you cannot meditate then use this electronic toy you are using to research the diety in question for ideas and history about that diety. ? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused012.gif)
