Hello forum goers, call me personalreality (pr, p-real, p, reality, whatever comes naturally).
I was directed to this forum by a friend, though I don't know what his screen name is. His name is Jack and maybe he'll see this and let me know. Anyway, my name is Rusty and I'm a 24 year old student of metaphysics living in Richmond VA, USA. I work in a metaphysical bookshop so I kind of do this stuff all day, not really, I talk about it all day.
Honestly, I don't practice magick in a regular manner. I have done some work with candles, Sigilry and many forms of divination. What I am really interested in is the exploration of consciousness and altered states which I know crosses with magick in many ways. I have studied many of the things associated with magick and some that are more closely related with what is traditionally associated with magick. I guess what I don't know is the more specific stuff associated with specific traditions, but I've been studying metaphysics for years and I'm open and interested to any new way to learn and work with my reality.
Presently I spend much of my time training myself in various states of trance and I do a lot of Astral Projection, Dream Work and Energy Work.
Let me also share my understanding of magick so you will know a little better where I'm coming from. I see magickal practice as an advanced technology that understands natural and supernatural laws that seem to be beyond the comprehension of modern humans. I have plenty of speculation about why people refuse to explore the possibility that they too can manipulate the energy in their reality to their benefit and the benefit of their fellow humans. Everything from conspiracy holding them back to some of us just being part of a different, newer human species that has developed their "sixth senses" more than others. Whatever the case, I don't see magick as something "otherworldly", but rather something completely natural and appropriate that is within the capabilities of all humans should they take the time to practice. I consider my Astral Projection to be magick, I consider my intuitive abilities magick but I equally consider my ability to use my attitude/psychic energy to create my day magick. I'm a psychology student and one of the big reasons I'm studying in the field is because I'm fascinated by the possibilities and capabilities of consciousness and I consider it all to be magick. (I should qualify that while I'm a psych student, I'm also disgusted by the field, they have become so lost in trying to prove that they're not a superstition that the ingenuity and brilliance has given way to relentless scientific measurement and irrelevant research; very few are still trying. Originally the mind was the domain of the church but when science became the dominant religion, psych did everything it could to distance itself from the church to become more 'reputable', now i feel like it's mostly just pathetic and useless.)
Anyway, anyone and everyone pratices magick whether they know it or not, just in the way they create their own reality, whether they are doing a really bad, unconscious job or they are taking the time to learn more about it and doing it in an appropriate way.
I'm normally a poster on an Astral Projection forum, but my friend says I ought to check this one out, so I guess I'll have to be a two-forum kind of guy.
