I get a few report recently of some members not being able to log in - it takes 3-5 times off attempt to log in, another member has not been able to view graphics on this forum (avatars/smilies).

I have none of these problems and wonder if you this happens to you?

It happens incessantly and just as you described (apart from the graphics and avatars!) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/angel.gif)

I have had no log-in problems but have had intermittant problems with seeing avatars and smilies. It could be a local cache problem on peoples browsers, maybe people could try clearing out their cache and trying to view the site afterwards to see if it resolves the problem.

Greetings

Yes ... it can take up to 5 attempts to log in ... more often than not ....

However this time I could log in on the first attempt ...

I have trouble loging in too and it takes me a fefw minutes. Though everytime I attempt to get on it is like a game to me. It's like I have to do a few things before I can get in and it usually works and takes less than a minute or two...

This is weird.
Anyone has any idea what's the problem? I can't solve the problem that I don't have. I'll pass this to my developer but I don't think he's got this problem or he would have noticed and fix it.

Probably it will help if those who having problems to post your computer and browser specs details.
SPECS -
- Your Browser:
- Cookie Enabled?
- Did you manually log out from the forums or keep logged in automatically?
- Using multi user computer?
- When this problem happens (exact date pls)?
- Login or not seeing images problem?

I use netscape, constantly logged in... without trouble...

Earlier I did try to log in through AOL and it said it was logging me in then it didnt... So I think its an IE issue...

I use IE6

I have cookies enabled

I always log out before logging back in again ...

It's virtually every time I log in

When I give my user name and password and press to log in ... it will then notify that I am logged in as Mr-Merlin ... then when the screen fades ... it comes back to the welcome guest log in .... no warning or error messages ....

I log in again with user name and password .... back to the welcome guest .... and this can cycle up to seven times now ....

I noticed too on Sunday, Monday New Zealand time ... whenever I wanted to post a reply ... it would tell me I'm not permitted to do this without logging in! It would treat me like I was a guest despite having already logging in under Mr-Merlin !!!

This also happened a couple of times when I went from forum thread to forum thread ....!!!

My laptop is an ACER Extensa 3002WLM using a Pentium M processor ... I am also networked via a hub on jetstream/broadband via an ADSL router in case I have similarities with anyone else who's having problems ...

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/drive1.gif) Maybe we should set up a poll to find out the percentage of members who have problems logging in ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fear.gif) ... let me do it, pleeeeeeeeeeeeease?

I have had all of the problems mentioned and even tried to stay logged in but it won't let me and logs me out eventually.

I also had no problems until a few days ago, mind you I was away over last weekend, so I cannot honestly say when the problems started.

However, I can see pics now, I did get in first time this morning and we clear out our cookies etc regularly here. Defrag etc regularly too.

Some forum hacks: Image uploader and Member Online Today removed since we think one of them are causing these problems. Let me know if the problem still exist. I like complains, it made us to improve (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Has the login problem been resolved? If you stop "complaining" I expect it is fixed, so keep reporting and update us (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) I will think of upgrading this board to a paid one if problems persist. Not a cheap investment but I could do that.

Just thought Id mention it (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif)

There are still problems for me, and I can't be bothered with all this right now. this is not very inviting for new guests, as I am a guest for now, and see not graphic's.

It only happens here. 'shivers' can't choose from the smilie, they all look the same.

Anyway, I just requested my developer to remove all forum hacks and I think this should solve the problems.

Since Ive no longer been able to access the net on my person puter, and have been sharing the spare puter with b/f, Ive had the problems again...

Though this time I did get through right away. I am just wondering why I dont have this issue on my system unless I use aol or IE. On the other system though I have these log in issues regardless of the browser I use...

I just now tried to send a PM to Radiant Star, in return for the one she sent me- and I got a message that I wasn't allowed to use this feature!
i used Invision on my site, and I got so irritated by it that I downgraded to the simplest forum I could find- called minibb. BUt it's so geeky- to access the admin panel you need to know the exact URL- so I don't know if that's a good answer either...

I'll post this on IPB helper/support forum if anyone there can figure out and fix this problem, if everyhting else fails in a month or two then I see if I have $200 to upgrade the board to a licenced one.

If you are going to do that, you should upgrade to Vbulletin... I miss when IPB was super stable and still free...

I thought about that too, but worried about losing posts or database when converting it to vBulletin.

In reply to Dragonmom, I have found that I need to wait a few seconds for the page to fully load before I use the features or I get the disabled message. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/fie.gif)

Anymore loggin in or other forum technical problems? Let me know.

I notice vbulletin like OF has takes like 5 times longer to load with my dial up in comparison to this forum. So if we're ever going to upgrade then IPB is the way to go (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
