Hi, I had this idea of the new instrument.. basically a piano!, it may have to be electronic though!

It has the same amount of keys, but plays twice as many notes! each note is divided, for a chose of a finer note, it has 6 octaves, when you play the bottom key, you then can hit this foot peddle, and move about a quarter of the way back up and start from there to gain a even deeper note, ditto for the other end!

I know it's hard to compress a real piano, for the qaulity comes from it's size and room for the sounds to vibrate!

Will be back with a drawing maybe! So do you think I should sell my idea?

I can play lsp and know my new piano could help me to invent a more subtle lsp by radiohead! sincerely

I have an older piano that i fool around with and this was one of the experiments i did.
Get an electronic piano or guitar tuner that can be set to tune any frequency. Then tune the strings in 1/4 tone intervals. So that by going from each key you play the note that would normally be in between the two and unplayable. Essentially you are taking the range of notes you can play and halving it while allowing more notes within the range. It helps to have a tuner because to get the notes to sound right when played together the intervals have to be just right. The idea with the pedal and moving up the scale i think would be unable to be done on a physical piano as you are limited by how much room you would have to place strings. I have read that harpsicord players often would tune their instruments to other scales or use "open chord" tunings. You could easily set this up with a software type program such as Reason by Propellerheads. The keyboard i use now is only three octaves but by hitting a button i can move up or down the scale of where my first key starts, giving me as many octaves as i want although limited to three at a time. If your into music i encourage everyone to own an old piano for experimentation on. I have a few, right now my friend and I took the string board out of a baby grand, retuned it, hung it on a wall and use small metal hammers to play it.
