Dolls(of sorts) are also used in slavic magick and their old pagan traditions (the problem is that such belifes and ways where almost put to death by cristianity )

This is what i was told:
-Forest spirits that inhabit trees ,manifest trough its branches ,taking human-like shape like -<-<
(there is also belief that trees can keep safe souls of the dead)
Such spirits bring luck and can be use to protect and ward off evil (although some can be real pranksters (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chuckyani.gif) )
Nature of these spirits vary and a wise finder will recognise it before taking them in and prepearing them (peeling off bark and dressing them to fit their task, personality or role -nothing extra should be added -like extra parts- they must be natural)

-it is hard to find any information about this ....

...you are just a figment of your imagination...
