I'm familiar with Goodman's work. I've read her book twice and copied out the illustrations. Her thesis is that certain postures cause altered states of consciousness. She came upon a number of statues and carvings in archeology that showed common postures. I'd have to pull out my files to recall the exact postures. But while yogic postures aren't claimed to have the power to alter one's consciousness, they are similar in a way. In Qigong, there are postures and movements to increase your energy flow. There are also mudras or hand positions to change your energy flow or frequency. It isn't so radical when you think of it thuis way.

Don't worry. It'll only seem kinky the first time.
