Hi everyone (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Jim posted an invite for promotion over on the PaleoNova list on Yahoo groups, so I figured I'd bite (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I'm Lupa; I'm a twenty-something experimental magician and pagan living in Seattle with my mate, Taylor Ellwood. I'm a recent transplant there; until recently I was a Pittsburgh resident. But life has a way of changing and, well, here I am (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) I've been studying and practicing magic in various forms for about a decade now; my primary focus has been on animal magic, but I've also worked in a number of other paradigms. I've been heavily influenced by Chaos magic, and consider myself an experimental magician as I like to take magic in new directions.

My first book just came out. As the topic says, it's called "Fang and Fur, Blood and Bone: A Primal Guide to Animal Magic." It's been published by Immanion Press, a small-but-growing UK-based publisher of edgy, experimental occult nonfiction. I've read the majority of books on animal magic out there right now, and I wanted to do something besides the usual totem animal dictionary.

I did cover totemism, though I went into the differences between paleopagan and neopagan totemism. I also covered practical work with familiars that goes beyond just having your cat sit at the edge of your circle. In addition I went into evocation and invocation of animal spirits and deities, creating animals on the astral plane, shapeshifting, working with animal parts, and a (highly disclaimered) chapter on animal sacrifice, particularly in regards to Afro-Caribbean religions and other modern usage. I tend to leave ethics up to the reader except where I see fit to interject (such as proper care of live animals).

You can order a signed copy directly from me atour website, The Green Wolf. If you're in the U.K., you can also order directly from the publisher. The book is also listed on amazon.co.uk but it'll probably be a few more days before it makes it ono the U.S. Amazon site.

Anyway, if you have any questions, feel fre to contact me at chaohippie (at) excite.com .

Thanks (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
