One theory I have toyed with is the idea that we are reincarnated through our DNA. I mean what is DNA? Its the chemical make up of evolutionary memory. Like binary code in software programs, the human genome diffines the peramaters of our perceptive existance. So maybe in our lives the things we experience are imprinted on our DNA then passed on to future generations. If "spirit" is an energy that makes us living and not dead than soul for individual only lives, at least on the mundane level, until the point of death. But if DNA is the capacitor for spirit than the human spirit as it uniquely experiences life from one person to the next is what is actually reincarnated through the ages. Therefore past life experiences are not actually a person reliving what they themselves once lived, but remembering what someone else, apart of a shared human spirit, once lived.
Personally I think more or less reincarnation is a possibility but I don't think we really understand exactly what it means to be reincarnated.
