Can anyone give me a theory of how a binding works or point me in the right direction? I have found a few references but nothing in the way of a complete theory.

--------------------
Cosmic consciousness is devoid of diversity; yet the universe of diversity exists in notion....
We contemplate that reality in which everything exists, to which everything belongs,
from which everything has emerged, which is the cause of everything and which is everything....
The light of [this] self-knowledge alone illumines all experiences. It shines by its own light.
This inner light appears to be outside and to illumine external objects.

In sorcery binding means a control of some description. The reason for the need to bind is dependant on the strength of the binding. Or vice versa. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

For instance, if you are wanting to have control over someone or something for the sake of servitude whether it be permanent or transitory (temporary) then your binding technique is very fundamental. For more elaborate bindings, the rituals and evocations are increasingly more powerful, until you get to the binding of life, which renders both parties insensible on occasion. This is very powerful magic and should not be undertaken casually.

The ultimate binding is one that may be permanent, not only for this particular lifetime, but a powerful and cognisant sorcerer can and will bind for many or all the given lifetimes of any one individual. Very often a binding may be likened to temporary mesmerizing or bewitchment, but I have it on good authority that a true binding goes far deeper than that, and can break through the boundaries of consciousness into the subliminal. From there, if the binding had been correctly established and carried out, most communication between the sorcerer and the one who is bound (and vice versa) can become virtually telepathic.

I hope this was of some help, as I believe there is little written on the subject.
