Hello all:
I understand that a tool to stray from the Elder gods and call the Ancient Ones is a sword that has killed 11 men. (Not interested in that one)

However there is another place in the book where reference is made to blood sacrifice, and it seems to relate to a normal practicioner. In his epilogue the mad arab says (pg 206):

'Know that the four Beasts of the Spaces claim the blood of the initiate, eachin their own time and season'

1) What does that mean? are those the same beasts for the cardinal points described in pg 190?

2) I take it to mean that blood sacrifices should be made to them, on a particular day. Is this correct?

3) Or does it mean that as part of the initiation or walking the path we must fight them and be 'bloodied' by them?

P.S in page 207 it says no sacrifices to be made if one finds out that a gate has been open (as the fiends will feed on it) this implies that the normal sacrifices are by spilled blood. He mentions 'the flocks of Palestine' as possible sacrifices... What where they, sheep, cattle?

4) Does any one currently praying to the gods uses animal sacrifices? (chickens, squirreles, etc) or since not necessary it has been left behind as not 'politucally correct'

Any thoughts in this subject are appreciated..

Traveller.

Sorry I should not have gone into blood sacrifices in general, I know it has been discussed in other posts...

What I really want to concentrate on is the Four Beast that 'claim the blood of the initiate' I take this to mean its my own blood.

1) Has any one encountered the 4 beasts?
2) What does the above mean? That is, Do I sacrifice to them? or Do I fight them and then they claim my blood by injuring me?

I dont want to come close to making even a bread sacrifice to some 'bad' entity... So are they the good guys or bad guys (Ancient ones).

They seem to be related to the gates of the N,E,S and W gates.

Again sorry for starting a discussion on animals sacrifices in general, got carried away.

Actually it was a good question so appologies are not in order. The 4 beasts are not related to the 4 directional gates. The 4 cults are cults of the ancient ones and are evil. They should not be sacrificed to. If you want to sacrifice a chicken and you plan to eat it later I do not see anything wrong with that as long as you are sacrficing to good dietys. If you are going to sacrifice dogs and cats like the sicko Satan worshipers from my hometown then I think that is sick. I have actually considered beheading a chicken before in the rites just to see what would happen. The major problem with that for me is I am not sure how you pluck clean and prepare a chicken. Kurban is a Turkish holiday after Ramadan in which lambs are sacrificed and the meat is given to the poor. Last year we paid for one to be sacrificed for us and I plan to this year also. Certainly sacrifice is not evil as long as the offering is not meant for something evil such as the 4 beasts of the spaces. The 4 watchtowers are something different. By closely studying the directional gate conjurations it is easily discerened that East gate = Inanna South gate = Marduk West gate = Nergal North Gate = Nanna. Offering blood sacrifice to them I have no problem with. The 4 beasts as relates to the 4 evil cults of which you speak is something which would have been better placed in the Urilla text. No man can serve the forces of light and the forces of darkness at the same time. Even if you buy a chicken to be sacrificed one thing to consider is that even if you do not buy the chicken it is already doomed. The chicken is gonna die and end up in someones belly no matter what. Alot of people who have never hunted or lived in the country might go nuts over sacrificing a chicken although they eat chicken all the time with no complaints.

Peace
