Everyihing I heard about the philadelphia experiment was that the information about it was intentionally done released to draw attention away from the government's real project - the atomic bomb. Which given the time in the mid-40's would have seemed almost just as alien. I think the government sorta shot itself int he foot because now we can't really trust what the government is doing or howmuch of anything is a front and whats real. Roswell might have been just another elaborate example of the government using mis-information and contradictory statements to confuse the people and ultimately nobody was able to really *know* anything for fact.
I do remember seeing once some program about some future soldier who's armor would be made up of millions of reflective mirrors to produces a chemeleon effect. But thats about as close to invisibility that I know of that has been actually released.
My uncle worked in intelligence during the cold war and he told me that the government is about ten years more advanced in technology than they let known to the public and the technology they sell to other countries is actually already obsolete to what they may (or may not have (IMG:
style_emoticons/default/wink.gif) ) already produced.
