Hello there all.

I just thought I'd share something mildly interesting with you, and was wondering if anyone has had similar experiences, or any insights etc.
I have been performing evocations for a few years now, however I'd only ever done them inside, or if outside then in a private place (ie garden).
A couple of months back I was up in Loch Ness, Scotland doing a spot of Nessie hunting (no really!) and one of my other things to do was some evocation work, namely evocating Amon (a spirit I have used successfully before).
Anyway the spot I chose was in the forest near to the Loch, in a small clearing off of a footpath. The area was remote even by north highlands standards. However even while I was setting up and waiting for the start time of the ritual a couple of dogwalkers went past now and then, very friendly, hello etc, there dogs ran up for me to pet etc.
To get to the point, as i was performing the ritual, I paused just before the first conjuration. To my horror I heard and saw a man coming down the path with his dog. I braced myself ready for some awkward questions. But to my surprise he just walked past AS IF I DIDNT EXIST. Even his dog didnt look at me.
I cannot believe under normal circumstances he could miss me, it was daylight, i was in an open space with no trees blocking me from the path, there were candles, billowing incence smoke, i was oddly dressed pointing a dagger and bellowing divine names loudly. Of course I know stories of others being invisisble when in a circle, but ive never experienced this myself.
The other strange thing, after id packed up i went to leave but had a feeling as if i had to stay. it was a nice friendly feeling, i cant describe it except it was similar to leaving a group of friends you know you wont see for a while. as if the place didnt want me to go. it was really hard to turn and leave. im a great beleiver in the fair folk and have spent many times in country places meditiating etc trying to get a 'sacred spot' but never to any avail. so how i got that feeling there i dont know. i didnt offer them anything, or even acknowledge them, all i did was sit there for a few hours reading and playing my tin whistle then evoked a spirit.
I have my own theories on these things, but i was wondering if anyone had some too, or similar experiences?

Heh, that's awesome. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

I usually do my evocations out in my back yard. I have a fire pit w/a bench most of the way around it. As it's circular, there's no question where the circle goes--I just follow the edge of the brickwork, and it makes it far easier to avoid crossing over it.

And I have a more practical consideration behind it, too. I'm asthmatic, so the LAST thing I want to do is burn copious amounts of incense inside the house. Outside I can use as much as I need and not worry about clogging up the house with all the smoke. And as for an altar during the evocation, I just set whatever I need on the fire pit's bench or on the ground and it seems to work just fine.

I just have to be quiet about it to keep from waking up the neighbours at three in the morning. No shouting barbarous words at the top of my lungs, so instead I just scream them mentally and speak the actual invocations and conjurations very quietly.
