Newbie Introduction Options

Hi All, Newbie here, And kinda lost, After spending some time looking at the subject it seems to me there is more than 1 style of magic, For the newbie like myself its a job to know where to start, I have a purchased a book called initiation into hermetics, by franz bardon as i was recommended this, So what i need to know is this a good book to start with, im intersted in what i a newbie would call mind magic and this seems to fit the bill, and using so called mind magic can it achieve the same results as ritual/ ceremonial etc, and what ever style of magic you practise would you start with this book and then progress, also id like to know what sort of time per day do most practice or need to practise to see results, i know its a hard question to answer, and also is hermetics a term for mind magic. many thanks mark cambridge uk.
