Paimon Options

Two weeks ago I contructed the 9th sigil, that of Azazel Paimon.

This being is loth to be summoned. I had to wrestle with this one to get any sort of clear contact. He will cower before a mantra of HIS names.

His essence is similar to a stream. Those who have meandering personalities will do well to offer to Paimon. He teaches that the soul took a body to experience. The stream represents an ever changing journey through this plane. What I learned from Azazel's personality and by the means necessary to summon him was that if you are to get to the core of any form of knowledge you must use God as a filter, otherwise the concept will confuse and subdue you.

He will grant good familiars if one makes a substantial sacrifice. I obtained a warthog whose purpose was to teach me that all experiences are part of the purpose of the flesh. He also can be used as a psychic vacuum cleaner, as it is anxious to consume whatever experiences it can obtain. Perhaps you may have better experiences, but this familiar had to be banished, as he was 'rooting' through my psychic energy constantly.

Am I missing something here, but aren't Azazel and Paimon 2 completely different entities?
They seem to be to me at least. I have worked with both of them on different occasions a few times each. I have found Azazel to be quite impatient and too busy for trivial human matters, unless they are damn good LOL. I have found that asking Paimon how he would like to be worked with and how to call him, then taking his advice on the matter produces very good results (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif).

If you are willing to share, I would love to hear more about your experience with Paimon . Which of the 2 seals did you use? I assume you must have contacted him prior to the evocation - was this through meditation? dreams? I have never evoked him (or any other demon) myself - most of what I have heard is that he can be very difficult if not outright horrifying to work with. He has nonetheless captured my unconscious as I'm finding myself needing to know more about him, and frequently have dreams involving him. When the time is right I will indeed try an evocation.

I have found Paimon mentioned in 4 texts- all of which say roughly the same things as the Lemegeton, with the exception of Mathers' translation of the Sacred Magic of Abramelin. Indeed, this last text does make a connection between Paimon and Azazel (i.e."scapegoat'), but hints that this may have derived from a common tradition of goat sacrifice. Mathers tells us (with very little conviction) that Paimon derives from Hebrew- yet Paymon can also be a Persian word that means "pact" or "promise". The fact that he is mentioned as riding a dromedary (a single humped camel) further ties his roots to ancient Persia. This is because domesticated war camels (i.e. the single hump variety) were introduced into the Levant and Northern Egypt during the Persian conquest of Egypt in the first millennium BCE. Was he a Persian/Babylonian deity or maybe a Zoroastrian demon? if so does anyone have any further info regarding this?
