So I've been posting at the Chaos Magic forum, because I know what Chaos Magic is, and I've been realizing the reason why I'm loathe to call myself a Chaos Magician: the apparent coincidences and the vaguely possible shift in reality; the lack of belief even in magic but the use of magic as a sort of ritual with no connection to these apparent coincidences, and so on, and so forth...

The thing is, I don't have the beliefs that hardly any other magician has. I don't believe in the Tree, I'm not particularly concerned with Gods and Goddesses, I don't believe in God or even an Ultimate Principle. What I do believe in is Spirits, and the idea that Spirits can alter things for real, not in some vague wishy-washy post-modern way. I believe in Spirits interacting with different parts of the mind, which I usually just split into consciousness and unconsciousness. I believe different Spirits have different auspices which they can influence. My chosen way to contact them is through my day to day work with my art. That's really all I believe. Not enough for anything, too much for Chaos Magic.
