I've ran into somewhat of a problem on this one.

For my last ritual, i needed something on my altar to represent the God/Godess (God on right, or south side, and Godess on left, or north side). Without anything readily at my disposal, i used a white rock and a grey rock (white for godess, grey for god). >.<

Does it matter what you have representing the god/godess? I've heard of statues, which im having some trouble finding, and of course pictures, also having trouble finding, but could it be something else? perhaps a vase like thing for the godess (fertility and what-not)?

Opions, thoughts, insults, random comments: all welcome. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

I cast my lot with the shadows. May the Gods and Godesses of Night hear my words and welcome me into their embrace.

So mote it be.

You can use anything as long as the symbolism makes sense in your head.

If for you (or your tradition) White is feminine and Grey is masculine, then great! In my system of correspondence I see Black as left, female, and receptive energy while White is the right, male, and emitted energy...but then again, I don't associate these colors with a particular god or goddess.

It is all about the correspondences you make and understand. Statues, pictures, bottle caps, they all serve their purpose as long as you know what they represent. Keep in mind that whatever you choose becomes sacred and therefore must be treated as such; those are not rocks but they are the physical representations of your deities!

My altar is set up the same way. I use a large White candle for the right, for the masculine side, and a large Black candle for the left and the feminine side.
