 Can Someone Tell Me The Difference Between A Spell And A Hex

Hello,

I'm new to this, green as green can be. I have recently been on numerous web site pertaining to spells and hex's. I did repeat one hex. However, I'm really not sure of what I actually did. I did read what the hex was for, It was to my liking. Whats the difference between the two. And if I don't fully understand the hex, will it work. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.
