It was truely one of the best novels i've read and very inspiring too.
It contained some "occult" material but the reason it's good is it's depth and how it's written.

The writer is apparently (accoring to the book) an alchemist and have been for a long time, he was also captured and tortured for his views by the brasilian gov.

very nice book indeed, go read it!

Coelho is a good writer for this century, I mean it's a commercial one, well received by any kind of people. In my country, if you read Coelho then you're just trying to pose as a smart guy. It's not like that, but it is a point there. I read all his books (except '11 minutes', which I heard it's like 'Pretty woman' ) and I just think Paulo Coelho knows one thing for sure: how to sell himself as an usual brand. To be honest, The Alchemist was the book that kind of opened my mind to life.
