I think it's a universal way of knowing if you're awake in a dream. After all, to be awake while dreaming, means to have your awakening consciousness with you in that dream.
As from the imagining stuff point of view, I guess that the imagination plays an important role in the mental plane, as dreaming does in the astral plane. So, it's just a matter of planes... (IMG:
style_emoticons/default/tn_dizzy002.gif) you can easily jump from one to another if you are well prepared. After all, everything is imagination, illusion, Maya, dream...there is no big difference, or at least that's how I feel know.
