The Freemasons, Freemasonry--a Satanic Sect? Options

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but since it is under "religion" I thought it'd be alright. I became quite stunned when a certain person told me that the Freemasons were a Satanic sect. Can we disprove or approve of that? Please send your helpful insights as they are always greatly appreciated.

They do look very satanic from a non occultist point of view. So i see what he means, There egyptian symbology, there occult history related to the Templar, And the Templar used to have some VERY serious secrets under there protection.
But as a person that despises governmnet if i was in charge of an order like that i would want to come across creepy as can be too. Fall before the true power type stuff. Let the gov. know whos really in charge. The problem is that SOO many people in our government are masonic thats what i hate. But hay this country was founded with roots in the templar and masons. I just wish the original masons that gave a shit could see how its been abused just as anything else thats related to government it gets turned to SHIT. Now they use all secret organizations as sort of a creep show dont mess with us sort of thing too scare the public. But those that know that esoteric knowledge only comes through hard work can guess that many use the name for cover just like they call themselves Christians.
If anyone takes the time to check the 33degree they will see that many very interesting cities and sites lie along both the north and south.
