The Freemasons, Freemasonry--a Satanic Sect?

I became quite stunned when a certain person told me that the Freemasons were a Satanic sect. Can we disprove or approve of that? History has shown that anyone who tried to exist outside the confines of the organized church was either branded a heretic, Gnostic or Satanist.... meanwhile, many great secrets lie hidden in the vaults of the Vatican. Most religious secrecy is rooted in fear of the government and/or the accepted church of the day. By painting everyone outside the church with the same brush, one of the greatest crimes in history was committed - the theft and suppression of knowledge.
