I've been testing astral projection a lot more recently as I feel I'm going through somewhat of a spiritual drought here. Just as a side-note I find that I can get to the point of vibrations; when it feels as though I'm moving about when I'm not within less than half an hour if I breath in through my nose and out through the mouth whilst repeating the mantra:
"Tonight I consciously leave my body..." (inhaling)
"Astral shell awaken when I need you" (exhaling)
(Recommended by konstantinos)
But as soon as I got to the most ...whats the word...perhaps sensitive point I found that I could not escape my body, nor did I k now what to expect - and I think this held me back.
My idea of astral projection is that you literally float up from your body and you can feel that, it feels as if *you* are moving up and out of your body and your 'astral eyes' open as you get out of your body so you can look about. However, I am finding nowadays people are saying you don't really see anything, it's all in your mind - which makes me question the point of astral projection if it's not as vivid.
Is this what stopped me from leaving my body? Once I got to the vibrational point I tried everything; imagining a rope and pulling, floating, sinking, rolling, sitting up. Just as a side-note I was lying on my side at the time - I dislike sleeping on my back, feel too exposed.
Any ideas or suggestions to remedy this?
the problem you are encountering sounds familiar to me, i have not yet practices astral projection but i am currently researching it. I found this one book to be the best so far... "Out of Body Experiences - How to Have Them and What to Expect" by Robert Peterson. here is a link to a PDF
im still not finished this one -- but the part i am currently reading describes something you might be experiencing. Apparently fear is an obstacle you must overcome in order to councioussly leave your body. i suggest reading this book; it is quite informative.
