Greetings,
Ayahausca is without doubt a powerful shamanistic herb. I tend to liken it's effects to Amanita's Muscari but with a deeper sense of self involved.
The first time I used it I just layed on the floor of my temple in the complete dark (it was about 3am) and I played the Doors. Just as Jim went into 'Five to One' I seemed partially project astrally into the Sephirotic world of Tifaret. It wasn't a full projection with sound and feeling, but I could see all of these geometric patterns joining and breaking apart.
When the effects wore off I drew up quick sketches of some of what I saw and did some research. Turns out the geometric patterns were pieces of Hebrew letters. Couldn't translate anything cause there had been no sentences or anything i could discern. But it was definitely enlightening.
Also, when you take Ayahausca, you're supposed to vomit. It's an important part of the 'ritual' use of the plant. The south american shamans say that it's akin to vomiting out your spiritual impurities, so don't shy away from doing that part of it. (IMG:

But it sounds like you had a good experience overall with Mami 'hausca.
