.

Greetings,

The scorpion is a constant reminder that death walks with us. We should always remember that we are in a limnal state-in the process of crossing a threshold.

In the Epic of Gilgamesh, it states that he’d traveled a great distance, when he came to the Mountains of the Scorpion. At the Gates of these mountains, it was a ‘scorpion-man’ that realized Gilgamesh was two-thirds immortal. The scorpion man asked Gilgamesh,
“ Why have you taken this route to us? The way is arduous and long, no one goes beyond here”

Gilgamesh replied, “ I have to see my father, Utnapishtim, who was allowed to go beyond. I want to ask him about life and death.”

I believe this is less the story of fiction that it is usually portrayed as, and rather an allegory or metaphor for the Journey every occultist takes on their path. The desire to know life and death in equal measure, and to understand their workings.

This from the Necronomicon text;

Marduk was chosen of the Elders to fight Kur and wrest power from the Great
Sleeping Serpent who dwells beneath the MOUNTAIN OF THE SCORPION. Marduk was given a weapon, and a Sign, and Fifty Powers were given to him to fight the awful Tiamat, and each Power has its weapon and its Sign and these are the mightiest possessions of the Elder Gods against the Ancient One who threatens Without, who threatens from the Abyss, the Lord of Darkness, the Master of Chaos, the Unborn, the Uncreated, who still wishes ill upon the Race of Men, and upon the Elder Gods who
reside in the Stars.
(Note; One cannot fully utilize the Fifty Names until after the Walking of Marduk Gate. Without the Scorpion Man this is much more difficult, and never complete.)
Hence it should be further noted, the name of the Scorpion Man., AKRABU, and his association with mountains.
In old Hebrew, it was the word Akkrabim that meant ‘scorpions’.
AKKRABIM was also the name given to the ridge containing the pass between the south of the Dead Sea and Zin, es-Sufah, by which there is an ascent to the level of the Negev desert. Scorpions are said to abound in this whole district, and hence the name (Num. 34:4). It is called "Maaleh-acrabbim" in Josh. 15:3, and "the ascent of Akrabbim" in Num. 34:4.
There is another "Maaleh-acrabbim" mentioned in Judges 1:36, "The Amorite border ran from Maaleh-acrabbim to Sela, and above." This was the border between the Amorites (Philistines) on the coastal plain and the tribe of Dan in the hills southwest of Ephraim.
And your border shall turn from the south to the ascent of Akrabbim and pass on to Zin and the going forth thereof shall be from the south to Kadeshbarnea and shall go on to Hazaraddar and pass on to Azmon numbers:34:4

The scorpion man is an often overlooked, yet vital aspect, of the Gate Walkers path. Throughout many aspects of history and religion, as noted above, the Scorpion has been associated with Passages, transformations, and the ‘step’ across to another way of seeing things.
As in Gilgamesh passing from his previous to possible immortality by crossing the mountains of the scorpion.
The Scorpion Man himself, the being dealt with when Walking that Realm, is an invaluable source of knowledge concerning the Gates and that Which Is Outside.
He speaks secret methods and courses among the Zonei, because he sees them from beneath. Just as he can teach much on walking safely in most Dread Ganzir. And none may journey beyond the Zonei into the realms of the Annunaku without his lessons.

The first time I went to the Scorpion Man was the New Moon before my first foray into the Gate of Her Most Holy Majesty, Inanna. The formula for entering his realm is thus,
On the darkest hour of the New Moon, stand within your temple in complete darkness. Recite firmly nine times, the name AKRABU. Then fall to the floor and enter his realm astrally as you would with a gate.
However, the Scorpion Man’s realm has no gatekeeper to grant you entrance. It is given freely. The only thing which may stop you would be encountering his Wife, Lady Scorpion. She kills instantly.

I performed the proper incantation and procedure and fell to the floor. I projected immediately and found myself in a cavern lit only by luminescent fungus on the wet walls. I began walking forward, following small furrows in the sandy floor.
I walked for what seemed to be long minutes when a rumbling came up from behind me. All at once, the cavern walls had vanished and were replaced by what appeared similar to the walls of an Egyptian tomb. Beneath and behind me, the sand floor was spilling away into nothingness. I began running down this corridor, barely staying ahead of whatever oblivion lay below.
At last I reached the end of the hallway. I came into a massive room. It was an underground chamber of staggering size. Nothing could be seen above except a small pinpoint of blue light.
Ahead of me was a wide, stone bridge. To the left and right were statues of figures which looked like the Hermit card of the Rider-waite tarot.
I ventured forth to the edge of the bridge and was assaulted by what seemed an infinite number of screams. Human screams of agony. I looked over the edge of the bridge and into the chasm that it crossed. Ganzir and Abyss lay below.
As I crossed the Bridge, a figure appeared. He wore a long, hooded black robe and carried a single glowing lantern. I approached him and told him my name. He nodded and said in a voice like dead leaves crunching, “I am Akrabu. Welcome’’
He led me across the Bridge and allowed me six questions. Neither the questions or answers may I share.

Just remember one thing. Fear must not go with you into this working. Fear is the nectar of his Wife. Appreciate what can be learned from the Scorpion Man. He’s overlooked far to often on this Path.

Peace,
Lugal Nosotro Tehuti.
